ANZAC Day
Last week across the school, the students learned about ANZAC day doing activities based on picture story books. The senior students also studied information texts about the war and researched indigenous soldiers by reading their biographies.
One of the books that was enjoyed by many students was ANZAC Ted. It's a story about a teddy given to a boy by his grandfather. This teddy went to the war and has the battle scars to show. During the war, ANZAC Ted provided comfort and support to the soldiers.
The students from Foundation and Year 5/6 then drew their very own ANZAC Teds.
Premiers' Reading Challenge
We have now read nearly 5000 books across the school and have over 70 students who have completed the challenge. We have some very avid readers in our school. Siblings, Frankie & Ally have read more than 100 books between them. What super readers!
New books in the library
Big thanks to the Bishop family who very generously donated these books to our library. They will be available to borrow in the coming weeks.
Picture Book Bingo
Expand your child's reading choices by getting them to read books that fit some of these categories on the bingo board. Can they tick off all 16 boxes?
