MLA

ANZAC DAY

Last week the MLA students learnt about the historical significant of ANZAC day in Australia and New Zealand. Students explored the meaning of different symbols used to commemorate this day such as the flag at half-mast, the poppy flower, the Last Post, memorial wreaths, the Rising Sun symbol and rosemary.

The MLA's wrote a procedural text to create their own poppy badge to wear.

In literacy, we read ANZAC picture story books and investigated the different perspectives of people during times of war. We also looked at ideas of kindness, resilience and reconciliation through texts.

Some students researched different facts about the world wars and expressed their opinions about the importance of remembrance.
