Microbiologist inspires our Year 5/6 students!

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have the pleasure of hosting a special guest

microbiologist and virologist who also happens to be the father of two OHR students, Mia and Aston. Our Year 5/6 students were fascinated by Sean's work and his journey as a scientist. We're incredibly grateful for his time and the valuable insights he shared. It was very clear that the students got a lot out of it!

Today we had the privilege of meeting a real microbiologist and virologist. His name was Sean Chung and he is Mia’s Dad. This was a great experience and the students and teachers enjoyed it greatly. We learned all about microorganisms and all kinds of viruses such as Covid 19 and the rhinovirus. There were also lots of other viruses

he was talking about. He answered lots of our questions like “Can there be two viruses in your body at the same time?”  He also told us why he started studying microbiology and viruses, which was because when he was in Year 7 someone gave him a book called "The Hot Zone"  which was about Ebola, a terrible virus that makes your body mush. Ebola is a lethal virus that is deadly. The book inspired Sean to became a microbiologist and virologist.
