Grade 1

In Grade 1 we have been focussing on making text-to-self connections when we read. A text-to-self connection is when a text or a book makes you think of something that has happened to you! It can be a connection with an experience, a setting, or a character's feeling or action in the story. Making connections to what we read helps us comprehend and, sometimes, more deeply understand what is happening and why our characters are acting in a certain way in our stories. Making self-to-text connections could be something to practise with your child when they are reading at home.
