Principal's Message

Welcome to our end of Term One newsletter. We have had a wonderful term at BHPS. Some of the highlights have been the School Fair, Ocean Awareness Program, Interschool Sports, Building the Foundations parent session, Harmony Week and launch of our SWPBS rewards program.

FUNDRAISING

A huge thank you to our amazing fundraising team for all of their continual planning and organisation of school fundraising events. Thank you also to our whole school community for your ongoing contributions to fundraising. As mentioned earlier in the term we have ordered brand new iPads as a result of your fundraising efforts. They are now in use in P-2 classrooms. 

PHONICS IN PREP

This term, our Prep students have commenced a Systematic Synthetic Phonics approach during their Literacy sessions which focuses on explicit direct instruction. This is an evidence-based approach that is currently sweeping across the world. The NSW education department has recently announced that all schools will be trained in these approaches. Likewise, all Victorian Independent Schools will also adopt this approach. I am proud that we are at the forefront of this teaching approach which is already yielding some outstanding outcomes for our students.

LUNCHTIME CLUBS

This term we have introduced a number of lunchtime clubs to give students options for structured play during their break times. Please find below a table of our current schedule.
