Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

Program

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce the launch of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program at our school for 2024. Last year was such a success and the students gave us some great feedback to make it even better this year.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program is a unique and enriching experience designed to teach children essential life skills through hands-on involvement in growing, harvesting, preparing, and sharing fresh, seasonal food. The program not only promotes healthy eating habits but also fosters a deeper connection to the environment and encourages teamwork and responsibility.

To make this program a success, we are in need of enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to contribute their time and energy to assist in the cooking classes, guiding students in preparing delicious and nutritious meals using the fresh produce from the garden. Your involvement will make a significant impact on the students' learning journey.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, please log in to Schools Interviews website (event code : r8ktQ) and fill in your name for the your chosen time and day. Grandparents, aunties and uncles are also welcome. Please make sure that you have a current Working With Children’s card and link it to COHR School prior to volunteering.

Your involvement will not only benefit the students but also strengthen our school community. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact Karen Gosling via email at kgosling@cohroakeast.catholic.edu.au.

Thank you in advance for your support and commitment to providing our students with a holistic and hands-on learning experience.
