School News

TERM 1 WEEK 24

Morning Drop Off

Over the past few weeks, there has been a large number of students arriving at school prior to the 8:30am bell when Yard Duty begins. For the safety of all students, we ask that parents make arrangements so that students are not left unsupervised in the schoolyard.

The school provides a before-school care service to ensure that all students are supervised appropriately before 8:30am. Please contact the OSHC on 8443 5308 to arrange enrolment.

If there is an occasion when students arrive close to 8:30am, we ask that they wait on the steps outside the Front Office.

Kiss and Drop Zones

As you would be aware it can become quite chaotic at the 'Kiss and Drop Zones' on Grallina Street and Malurus Avenue between 8:30am to 9:00am and 2:45pm to 3:20pm.

We ask that parents use these zones correctly and move forward as cars leave the zone to enable flow. Please see the attached picture for the correct use of a 'Kiss and Drop Zone'.

The council will be monitoring both zones in the coming weeks for effectiveness and correct use by people picking up students. They will issue fines for infringements.

It is an expectation that drivers:

  • become stationary as close to the end of the drop-off zone as possible
  • remain in their vehicle or if required to exit the vehicle, must not move further than 3m away from their vehicle
  • allow students to exit and enter the vehicle curbside only
  • continue to move forward, along the drop-off zone, at all times, as space becomes available when vehicles exit the zone
  • do not remain stationary for longer than 2 minutes at drop-off times from 8:30am and pick-up from 3:10pm
  • do not queue along Malurus Avenue waiting to turn into the kiss-and-drop zone - please drive around the block.

Also just remember that the speed limit on Malurus Avenue is 25km/hr between Grallina Street and Pierson Street. This is a high-traffic area and we all need to take care to ensure the safety of all users.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation to keep everyone safe.
