Year 1 play at Discovery Grove
Our Year 1 students recently had the exciting opportunity to be the first to explore and 'test' the brand-new play equipment in our revamped junior play area, 'Discovery Grove'.
After a thorough safety briefing, they eagerly joined our Principal and Head of Junior School to ensure the play space was safe and ready for everyone to enjoy. The students had a fantastic time discovering all the new features, providing invaluable feedback that helped give the final seal of approval.
The refresh of Discovery Grove is now complete and open for our students to enjoy!
Years 3 and 4 Camp to Marysville
Meenakshi Ashok Varadhan, Year 3
On Wednesday, September 11, all of Years 3 and 4 were excited for our upcoming trip. We were going to camp! With our bags packed, we set off on our two-hour bus ride to Marysville.
When we arrived, we were introduced to Alex, the person in charge of Camp Marysville. We were then separated into groups and went off to our cabins. I shared my cabin with Lucy Canobie, Elise McGloughlin and Sophia Zhang.
My group’s first activity was 'Grow it, Cook it' where we made delicious pizzas. My pizza had lemon thyme, chocolate mint and other herbs, which tasted as good as they looked!
My favorite activity of the day was canoeing. Sophia and I had fun, even though we were splashed several times by others, which was a bit annoying.
On Thursday 12 September, my cabin was up and running by 6.45am. I enjoyed a piece of toast, two hash-browns and apple juice for breakfast. Our first activity for the day was bouldering. I put on a helmet and adjusted it to the right size and started to climb the wall. At first, I slipped and felt a bit nervous, but then I got the hang of it!
I really enjoyed learning bush skills. Tim (our group leader) showed us how to light a cotton ball on fire. I finally did it, and I felt relieved! I lit mine before Sophia and after Sebastian. We also had a campfire, which was one of the most fun activities of the whole camp. I was the first to roast a marshmallow!
On Friday September 13, it was time to say goodbye to the Marysville Camp. In my heart, I loved it and wished we could come back again soon!
Year 4 Sustainability Expo
Did you know that recycling just one aluminum can save enough energy to power a TV for three hours?
Thank you to our Year 4s for their hard work and research on their environmental projects. They put together an amazing Sustainability Expo to show us all the ways we can help take care of our planet for their generation and many more to come!
Robocup State Championships
Samuel Thompson, Science Teacher
At the end of Term 3, our Year 6 and Year 8 students proudly represented the School at the State Robocup Championships, showcasing their creativity, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Our Year 6 team, in their second competition, displayed significant progress in the Rescue Line challenge. Throughout the day, they successfully navigated the various courses, picking up and repositioning their robots only a couple of times on each course. It was great to see the smiles on their faces after they successfully completed their mission!
Meanwhile, our Year 8 team entered the OnStage competition with determination. Despite a slower start, they delivered an outstanding second-round performance, impressing the judges by sticking closely to the competition brief.
Their patience paid off at the end of the day, as they were awarded both the prestigious Engineering Award and first place in the OnStage competition!
It was a fantastic day for both teams, filled with learning, teamwork and celebration. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next!
