School Council news

School Council met on the 6th December for our last meeting of 2024. Jenny provided an update on the Annual Plan goals. Next year is our final year of the current plan and we will be undergoing accreditation for the International Baccalaureate too. A new cleaning contract will be welcomed by all. We really hope this lifts the quality of cleaning in our school. The Leap Kids school holiday program has been extended for another three years.

The School continues to be in a good financial position. We thank Pina, Jenny, their team and the finance committee for ensuring we are in this position.

School Council congratulates Sam and the team on the great School Concert. It was a huge success!!

While the school has now had its Rolling Facilities Audit (a 5 year audit of the school’s assets), frustratingly works to rectify these issues have not yet commenced. The funds allocated do not seem to be enough in Council’s view for the extent of works identified. Watch this space!

Jenny and I will be meeting with our local members Ged Kearney and Kat Theophanous on the 19th December to talk about next steps for our school’s masterplan. School Council is very concerned about the asphalt area and is working through options to remedy this. The masterplan sought to deal with this issue but we understand this is a big dollar ask. We cannot fund the masterplan on our own and we need financial assistance and a partnership with government.

We would like to thank all the teachers and staff for a great year. Also to all the volunteers who make our school such an amazing community – thank you. Wales Street Social and the Fete Committee have done an amazing job again this year – thank you again.

A special thanks from me to my fellow School Council members, both parents and staff, and to Jenny from me – we have got lots of good things done!

Have a wonderful break and see you in 2024!!

Cheers Kellie Marks
