📚 Library News: Celebrating Stories and Looking Ahead 📚

We have officially reached Week 8 of Term 2, and the calendar remains packed with fantastic community events. It has been wonderful to see our students continue to engage so enthusiastically with our library programs and reading initiatives as the term progresses.

🦘 National Simultaneous Storytime Success

A huge congratulations to all our students who participated in National Simultaneous Storytime! Rather than holding a central whole-school gathering, our classes took part individually within their own rooms, joining over a million children across Australia to enjoy Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller.

 

It was fantastic to hear the classrooms filled with excitement as students cheered for Luna Roo. Optional follow-up activities and craft templates were provided to all rooms, and it was wonderful to see the creative ways our students engaged with the story's themes of perseverance and team spirit.

👟 Rescheduled Walk Safely to School Day – Friday, 19 June

Please lace up your sneakers! Our school Community Walk for Walk Safely to School Day has been rescheduled.

We would love to see a great turnout of families for a fresh start to the morning. This is a wonderful opportunity to promote active travel, road safety, and healthy habits within our local neighborhood.

🖤💛❤️ Looking Forward: NAIDOC Week in Week 11

Looking ahead to the final week of Term 2, our school will be acknowledging and celebrating NAIDOC Week during Week 11. This is a significant time to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In the Library, we are proud to highlight our dedicated First Nations book section. This collection features a rich variety of beautifully illustrated picture books, traditional Dreamtime stories, and historical texts written and illustrated by First Nations creators.

 

During our Library sessions over the coming weeks, students will be exploring these fantastic resources to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous histories and cultures. We encourage students to browse this section and borrow a book to share with you at home.
