Kindergarten Transition at Edgeworth Public School
As we prepare for our 2027 Kindergarten enrolments, we are excited to share details of our transition-to-school program, designed to support children and families as they begin their school journey with confidence and connection.
A key feature of our program is “Eager for Edgy,” a series of small-group sessions for students enrolled to start Kindergarten the following year. These sessions provide opportunities for children to engage in play-based learning experiences, build relationships with peers and staff, become familiar with school routines, and develop a strong sense of belonging before their first day of school.
Alongside these sessions, we are also hosting our Kindy Expo this evening, providing families with the opportunity to meet the current Kindergarten team and connect with key members of our school community and local support services. Stallholders and representatives attending include:

Our transition program also includes school tours, parent workshops, and Kindy Club sessions held later in the year. These opportunities are designed to support children and families as they become familiar with school expectations, learning environments, routines, and wellbeing supports.
We value the importance of strong transition experiences in ensuring every child begins Kindergarten feeling safe, supported, and ready to learn. Through meaningful connections with staff, peers, and community partners, we aim to create a positive and successful start to school for all students.
We look forward to welcoming our future students and families into the Edgeworth Public School community.
Parking and Pick-Up Safety Reminder
The safety of our students, staff and families is always our highest priority. We would like to remind all parents and carers that the school staff carparks are not to be used for student pick-up or drop-off.
The only exception is for parents and carers who have been issued with a school-approved disability parking pass. These passes are provided for specific students with additional needs and must be displayed when using the designated parking area.
Parents and carers are also reminded that parking is not permitted in the Fair Play OOSH carpark unless you are specifically collecting your child from the Fair Play service.
In addition, no parents or carers are to pick up students from the Bus Bay. Parents and carers should not enter the school grounds via Renfrew Crescent unless they are collecting their child from the Fair Play area.
These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all students, staff and visitors and to minimise traffic hazards around the school grounds. We appreciate your cooperation and support in following these expectations and helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Anti-Racism Workshops
Throughout Terms 1 and 2, students in Years 3–6 have participated in a series of engaging workshops delivered by the Edgeworth Memorial Neighbourhood Centre.
These sessions focused on raising awareness of racism and discrimination, celebrating cultural diversity, and empowering students to become upstanders against racism both at school and within the wider community. Through discussions, activities and reflection, students explored the importance of respect, inclusion and standing up for others when they witness unfair treatment.
As part of the program, students participated in a "Call to Action" session, where key messages and practical strategies for addressing racism and discrimination were broken down and discussed in detail. Students explored how they can make a positive difference by treating others with kindness and respect, speaking up when they witness unfair behaviour, celebrating diversity, and helping to create an inclusive environment for everyone.
We hope these workshops have sparked meaningful conversations among our students and encouraged them to continue demonstrating these values every day. The Call to Action, outlined in the presentation below, provides a valuable reminder of the role we all play in creating a school and community where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.
