Learning in Year 2

English 

In English, we have been enjoying a range of “getting to know you” activities to build connections and confidence in our classroom community. We have also started exploring recounts, learning how to retell events in order and include important details about who, what, when and where.

Maths

In Year 2, we have been learning all about time and even made our own clocks to help us practise reading o’clock and half past. We have also been exploring informal measurement, using everyday items to measure and compare length and height. Next week, we are excited to begin our new focus on place value, exploring how numbers are made up of hundreds, tens and ones.

Integrated

In Integrated Studies, we have begun exploring our new unit, One World, Our Stories, which focuses on how we all came to live in Australia. Students have been sharing and discussing the different countries their parents and grandparents come from, helping us celebrate the rich diversity within our classroom community.
