SCHOOL SPORT

Grovedale West is a member of School Sport Victoria which is the governing body for Primary and Secondary School SPORT.

Grovedale West is a member of the Deakin DISTRICT, which is in the Geelong North DIVISION and the Western Metropolitan REGION.

DEAKIN DISTRICT SUMMER CARNIVAL (Year 5/6)

The Deakin District Summer Carnival is Thursday 5th March from 11.30am - 2.30pm. for all Year 5/6 students. The Compass Excursion will be ready for approval shortly. Students will be playing Cricket, Tee ball, Dodgeball, Tennis and Swimming. Parents, please check compass for further details.

HOUSE ATHLETICS (Year 3-6)

The annual School House Athletics is on Friday 6th March at Landy Field, South Geelong from 9.30am - 2.30pm  for all Year 3 - 6 students. The Compass Excursion will be ready for approval shortly. Parents, please check compass for further details.

We would love the support of any parents on the day to help time keep etc.,

TEAM VIC TRIALS 2026

Students who wish to be nominated for these trials must inform Mrs Liversidge by Thursday 19th February. 

Schools can nominate 3 students per sport. If more than 3 students wish to be nominated, schools are required to run trials to select the nominations. 

*TEAM VIC trials nominations are now open and close on March 2nd.

TEAM VIC trails are held for the following sports AFL Boys, Cricket Boys, Netball Girls Football (Soccer) Boys, Basketball Boys, Basketball Girls.

Regional trials are held for each sport on the following dates:

AFL BOYS 24th March

Basketball GIRLS & BOYS 26th March

Football BOYS (soccer)  28th April

Cricket - 12th May

Netball - 28th April

The trials will be at various venues in Melbourne with an entry fee of $35.00 per student.

2nd March - Hockey Roadshow Clinics - Year 1 and Year 6.

5th March - Deakin District Summer Carnival Year 5/6 11.00am - 3.15pm.

6th March - House Athletics Year 3-6 (Landy Field) 9.00am - 3.15pm.

10th March - Division Swimming qualifying students (Kardinia Aquatic Centre)

10th - 12th March Year 6 Camp

19th March School Fun Run/Cross Country (Prep - Year 6) 12.00pm - 3.15p.m.

30th March Geelong Nth Division Girls AFL 9’s Carnival Year 5/6 (Girls) selected students (South Barwon) 10.00am - 2.30pm.
