Secondary School
Remembrance Day Service
On Monday, 11 November, our school community came together for a solemn and reflective Remembrance Service. Beginning at 10.40am, students led the ceremony by sharing the historical significance of this day in 1918, marking the end of World War I. They read the poignant poem In Flanders Fields, honoring the sacrifices made by those who served. As a tribute, both Primary and Secondary students laid a wreath in remembrance, reminding us of the importance of gratitude and respect for those who have served. It was a meaningful event that encouraged our students to reflect on the freedoms and peace we enjoy today. Thanks to Mrs Jill Bascombe who organised this event for us.
Albany Show
Last Friday, we enjoyed a break from our usual school day, but many of our students and staff were hard at work representing our school at the Albany Show. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff and to our future student leaders for their dedication at the Great Southern Grammar stand. The face painting done by our upcoming school leaders was a highlight for many young visitors, bringing joy and creativity to our stand. Our Hospitality students and staff also did an outstanding job, serving over 1,600 free affogatos to the community—a truly impressive effort! We are proud of how our school was represented and appreciate everyone’s hard work and enthusiasm.
Year Eleven Camp
After wrapping up their exams on Wednesday, our Year Eleven students headed out on Thursday for their final camp experience as a cohort. This camp provides a valuable opportunity for students to connect as a group and focus on the exciting year ahead, as they step into their final year of school. Students spent time in their house groups with their Heads of House, engaging in activities and planning events for the upcoming year. With beach walks, team-building exercises, and activities, students strengthened existing bonds and formed new ones, fostering a spirit of collaboration and unity that will carry them through their final year.
Thank you to all the students and staff for making these events so successful and memorable!
