Principals Report

We are now in the middle of term 4 with lots of event coming our way.

Fete

Our Great Fete is on this weekend!

We are excited to invite you to our annual fete, happening this weekend!

Bring your friends, family, and neighbours for a day full of fun, food, and entertainment. There is something for everyone—whether you are coming for the delicious food stalls, exciting games, rides or the live entertainment including watching teachers being dunked plus our school band and rock choir. It's going to be a day of fun and excitement.

A special thank you to our Fete Coordinators Rebecca and Erica plus all the volunteers helping on the day.

Join us as we come together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories. We look forward to seeing you there!

Art Show

I want to take a moment to recognise and express our gratitude to Georgina Tragas for our incredible Art Show of 2024.  The event was a huge success and truly showcased the amazing talents of our students. Thanks to Georgina for her dedication, organisation, creativity, and attention to detail, it was an outstanding show. The positive feedback from parents, students, and staff has been overwhelming, and we thank you Georgina for your vision and effort. You are a true artist that is committed to making art a vibrant part of our PYP program and school community.

Parent Teacher Interviews

We will be conducting Parent Teacher Interviews on 2nd and 3rd December this year. Bookings for Parent Teacher Interviews are now open via the Compass portal

Both these days are normal days of attendance for the students. The class teachers will be released to conduct the interviews, and the students will be supervised by specialist staff for each afternoon.

Interview days:

Foundation to Grade 2 - Monday 2nd December

Grade 3-6 - Tuesday 3rd December

The information for the Parent Teacher Interviews will be sent out via Compass and will be held virtually over Webex. We will have virtual meetings as they allow us to conduct interviews while the students are in attendance, are more time efficient and provides working families options to log on rather than having to take time out of the working day to attend the school.

The Semester 2 report will be released for families in the last week of the year and will reflect your child’s achievement and progress for all curriculum areas taught across the semester.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Remembrance Day, an important part of Australia’s history was recognised and acknowledged on Monday 11 November.

On Monday we observed a minute of silence in respect for those who have served our country in the past and current wars. Our school captains provided a brief service over the public address system so that students gain a better understanding of Australia’s part in the historical Armistice Day and why a red poppy is usually worn. A big thanks to our School Captains, Maya Keddie-Sanchez., Emily Ho, Sam Fisher and Lucas Pietsch for their beautiful words and confident speech.

Learner Profile focus this week is: Open Minded

An Open-Minded student knows that all people are different. They listen to the points of view of others and consider many possibilities before making a decision. They celebrate the differences that make all people unique.

How can parents help to develop this Open-Minded trait at home?

o Encourage your child to try new things – new foods, new games and new activities.

o Expose your child to different festivals, celebrations and traditions and be sure to         present them in a non-judgmental way.

o Encourage your child to really listen to others when they speak.

o Introduce literature about many different cultures into your home library.

Be sure that it is appropriate and reflects the culture in an appropriate way

o When you observe your child being Open-Minded, reinforce this positive behaviour and use the PYP Learner Profile terms.

Kind Regards,

Luisa Kalenjuk
