Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

He shall gather his elect from the four winds.

In Sunday's Gospel we hear about Jesus coming to collect all of his believers in the end days. He reminds us that no one knows exactly when that will be, but that the signs will be there for us to observe. Just as a fig plant has signs of milk in it's leaves showing that summer is around the corner, God will send messages to us to be prepared.  This can be a challenge for all believers as we must remain ready by living as God asks us to through many of the Gospel teachings.

I wonder if you can even imagine earth being changed so that the sun, moon and stars will not shine as brightly.  Our comfort would surely be that our saviour will come again at this time and be with us.

Year 3 Sacrament of Reconciliation

On Tuesday, 12 November, a group of our Year 3 students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a very special celebration with Father Dispin and Father Michael, who talked to the students about seeking help and forgiveness in their lives, especially when they miss the mark or make poor choices. Congratulations to all of our students who participated, sharing the act of contrition and prayer of sorrow, to reconcile themselves with God and with the wider community. Special thanks to our teachers, Marisa Box and Rebecca Stuart, for preparing our students so beautifully for this sacrament.

Encountering the Sacred through Art at NGV

On Friday, 15 November, our teachers attended professional learning at NGV in our beautiful Melbourne City.  We were greeted by David who guided us with meditation prior to our gallery walk.  Our eyes were fixed on religious artwork produced mainly in the Renaissance era, where many talented artists were given opportunities and the financial resources to paint. We noticed the gold colour paint and reflected on the detail and interpretation of the many gospel stories particularly around Jesus' birth, death and miracles.  The more we marveled at the work, the more we realised how important it is to understand the context behind the artwork's story in order to appreciate the detailed work completed on the canvas.
