Welcome back
Welcome back to a new school year here at Palm Beach State School! We’re excited to see our returning families and offer a warm welcome to those joining us for the first time. This year, our key focuses are on strengthening skills in reading and maths while fostering a strong sense of belonging for all our students and families. Thank you for your partnership – we are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Preps
A very warm welcome to our 135 new Prep students and their families joining us at Palm Beach State School! We are so excited to have you as part of our school community. Starting school is a big milestone, and we are committed to ensuring your child feels supported, engaged, and excited about learning.
Together, we’ll make this an amazing journey filled with growth, discovery, and joy. Welcome to the Palm Beach family!
Numbers
Yesterday marked Day 8 of the school year, and our official enrolment numbers were submitted to the Department of Education. We are proud to share that our official Day 8 enrolment is 898 students!
Fist Pump Friday
We’re excited to introduce Fist Pump Friday, a new initiative celebrating our students' outstanding achievements! Every fortnight, student from classes will be recognised with a Fist Pump Postcard for their "WOW" moment—whether it’s an academic, social, or behavioural accomplishment.
These students will be announced over the school speakers and invited to collect their postcards from our leadership team to share their success with family.
Each recipient will also receive a Golden Ticket, with lucky ticket holders going in the draw to be invited to a special Principal’s morning tea later in the term.
Let’s celebrate our students’ efforts and achievements together!
Meet the teacher
Meet the Teacher afternoon will be held on Tuesday, February 11th in your child's classroom from 3:00pm to 3:30pm.
This will be an informative session where you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and learn about school and classroom expectations and routines.
Due to time, this is not the forum to have a one on one discussion regarding your child’s progress.
However, this opportunity will be provided at Parent-Teacher Interviews which will be held on Tuesday 25th of March (Week 9).Further details to book an appointment with your child’s teacher will be sent closer to the date. Should you require an appointment prior to this, please contact your teacher via dojo to arrange an agreeable meeting time.
If you are unable to make Meet the Teacher, you will not miss any information, as your child’s teacher will be emailing families the PowerPoint presentation and parent term overview on completion.
We look forward to seeing those who can attend on February 11th.
Leadership ceremony
On Tuesday 11th of February our 2025 student leaders will be formally inducted into their roles. We are excited to see what our group of leaders will add to our school this year. Our leaders will be presented with their badges in front of their immediate family and the students from Yr. 4 – 6.
Uniform Policy
As we begin the new year, we would like to remind all parents and students of the school’s uniform expectations to ensure consistency and pride in our school community. Below are expectations outlined in our school dress code.
Students must wear the school uniform correctly on all school days, except for special occasions designated by the principal, such as athletics days and free dress days. Alterations to the uniform are not acceptable. We encourage students to take pride in their appearance by keeping their uniform clean, neat, and tidy.
Black Shoes and Socks
All students are required to wear fully enclosed black shoes, preferably black jogger-style shoes with black laces, and white socks. Due to Workplace Health and Safety regulations, thongs and sandals are not permitted.
Hair
Hair must be clean, neat, and tidy. Styles and colours should be appropriate for school. Long hair for boys and girls must be tied back. Hair accessories should be in school uniform colours (blue, white, black, or natural hair colours). Mohawks, spiked multi-coloured/coloured hair, rats’ tails, tracks, razor cuts are not permitted.
Jewellery and Accessories
Jewellery is not permitted, with the exception of watches and small gold or silver studs or sleepers for pierced ears. During sport, only studs may be worn, and watches should be removed for safety reasons.
Make-up, Nail Polish, and Tattoos
Make-up, coloured nail polish, and tattoos (permanent or temporary) are not permitted at school.
Behaviour Outside of School
Students must remember that when in our school uniform outside of school grounds, they are representatives of Palm Beach State School and must behave and appear in an exemplary manner.
Thank you for your support in upholding these expectations.
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS
E-bikes, bikes and scooters
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone in our school community, I want to address an important issue concerning safety on our school grounds. Recently, there have been several near misses involving students and adults riding bikes, scooters, e-bikes, and e-scooters within the school premises.
To ensure everyone's safety, we kindly ask that all students and parents dismount from their bikes, scooters, and e-scooters before entering the school grounds. Additionally, when leaving the school, parents and students are requested not to ride their bikes, scooters, or e-scooters until they have exited the school gates.
E-bikes and e-scooters should also be parked just inside the school entrances to ensure they do not fall or pose a risk to students, particularly our younger ones. When leaving the school, please take extra care to watch out for others and be mindful of children who may be less aware of their surroundings.
Your cooperation in reinforcing these safety measures is greatly appreciated. Let’s work together to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Dogs
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all, we kindly remind parents and guardians not to bring dogs onto the school grounds.
While we understand the love for pets, the presence of dogs can pose safety concerns for some students, especially those with allergies or fear of animals.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe space for everyone.
Playgrounds
Please be reminded that school playgrounds are out of bounds before and after school hours. This measure ensures the safety of our students during drop-off and pick-up times. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
kind regards
Mr Anderson
