Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Principal Report

School Review

As part of our school review, we're exploring the “Why” of Macedon Primary School—what makes MPS unique and what drives our purpose as a school. Understanding our "Why" helps us identify the core beliefs and values that fuel our passion, creating a shared vision that unites our school community and shapes the future of MPS.

To gain insight into the importance of knowing your "Why," you might find this video by Michael Jr. inspiring. If you'd like to contribute your thoughts, please add them to the poster outside the principal’s office or email them to Andrew at Andrew.bloomfield@education.vic.gov.au.

Orienteering

Last Friday’s Orienteering Day was a huge success! The kids had a fantastic time, and it was wonderful to see everyone working together. A big thank you to the families who came along to support, and congratulations to Mitchell for winning the event! A massive thank you to Mr. O for organizing such an amazing day—your efforts made it unforgettable for all!

Eco-shed Upgrade project team

"If good things take time, then this Eco-shed upgrade is set to be spectacular!"

Macedon Primary School is thrilled to share updates on the Eco-shed Upgrade Project, which aims to transform the currently unpowered Eco-shed in Middle Gully into a fully functional, all-season learning space. This project has been in planning for some time, and we’re now ready to take the next exciting steps toward making it a reality.

The project will include essential upgrades, such as power, lighting, heating, cooling, and minor building works to create a durable and adaptable environment that supports learning year-round.

To keep everyone in the loop, an information session will be held this Friday at 9:15 am in the JCB, where we’ll be presenting to the PFA. Community members are warmly invited to join. For those unable to attend, feel free to submit questions via our Community Enquiry form here, and we’ll follow up with answers in the newsletter each week.

We’re also calling for expressions of interest from skilled tradespeople and businesses in the school and wider community who may want to bid on this project. Builders, electricians, plumbers, and other trades with project management or delivery experience are encouraged to apply. If you think this is a job for you, please complete our Expression of Interest here, and we’ll be in touch with those who meet the initial criteria to provide a formal quote.

Thank you for your support in helping us create a remarkable learning space for Macedon Primary!

School Hoodie

At our last school council meeting, we approved an exciting addition to our school uniform—a hoodie for students to wear! This new option will provide extra comfort and warmth, and it will be available for purchase on Beleza’s website before the next school year.

2025 Foundation Transition Sessions

The 2025 Foundation Transition sessions are set to begin on the 19th of November! Families should have received information with the specific dates and times for each session. These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for our incoming Foundation students to become familiar with the school environment, meet teachers, and begin forming connections with their classmates. Please note that the final session will include an information session for parents and guardians. We look forward to welcoming our new Foundation students and their families to Macedon Primary!

Food Drive

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to our Food Drive in support of Gisborne Foodbank! We’re continuing to collect donations for the next three weeks and would love your support in helping those less fortunate in our community. This is a meaningful opportunity for our students to show kindness and make a positive impact. Families are invited to drop off donations in the school foyer. Your generosity will go a long way in providing much-needed items for local families. If you would prefer to donate money, please visit Gisborne Foodbank's donation page.

To ensure we gather a variety of items, we’ve assigned specific products to each year level:

  • Foundation: Long life milk (lactose-free, almond, soy, condensed milk, coconut milk/cream)

  • Grade 2: Sauces (tomato, BBQ, mayonnaise, curry pastes), Asian sauces, instant meals, stock (liquid and cubes)

Sunsmart

We would like to remind everyone that our SunSmart period has officially started. As part of our commitment to keeping our students safe from harmful UV exposure, all students are now required to wear a sun-protective hat when they are outdoors.

Warm regards,
