Principal's Message

Mr Cameron Jones - Principal

Student success!

Flying Finn – Last Thursday, Finn from 5C made us all proud! At the State Athletics Carnival he finished second in the junior high jump meaning that he will go forward and represent NSW and Roselea PS at the national carnival in Tasmania in November. We wish Finn well!

Devastating debaters – Last Monday evening at Epping community centre, our Year 5 debating dream team of Ronika M, Aniya J, Regina C, Sophie A, Chloe F, and Kate P went up against North Rocks in the final of the Epping Rotary Debating Competition. The topic was ‘each stage 3 child should have to do 2 hours of community service’. Our team was on the negative side of the debate and after a very close contest, they came away with the win. We are very proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see them progress into the Year 6 competition next year under the watchful tutelage of Mr Love.

Musical masters - This Wednesday evening our choir and concert band will join with other local schools participating in the Epping Music Festival. The event is held at the Chatswood Concourse and I know our students will represent the school proudly and have a wonderful time. I’m looking forward to enjoying the show!

Finance System

Over the past few weeks you will have received information about Roselea PS changing over to the new finance system called School Bytes. All public schools have had to change their financial system by half way through next year. With this new system, it has simplified many school processes and payment options for parents. Thank you for taking the time to understand the new system and reading the information that is in the 'from the office' section of the newsletter. If you have any questions about the new system, our office will be happy to help out.

Principal Conference

Last Wednesday to Friday I had the pleasure of learning side by side with hundreds of Principal colleagues from public schools across the state. It was a great opportunity to be able to share some of our Roselea story and also learn from others about how their schools are achieving success. It is great to be a part of a strong public school system.

2024 class planning

To assist with 2024 class planning, all students over the next few weeks will fill in a form in class. In this form they will be asked to identify 4 friends that they would like to be in their class next year. When making classes for next year, we will look at this list and ensure that at least one of the four friends is in the same class as your child. There are a variety of other factors that we take into consideration when forming classes, however by ensuring that everyone has at least one friend, we hope that all students will make a smooth start to 2024.

We are lucky to have a fantastic staff at Roselea and your child we be supported in any class that they are placed. It is for this reason that we will not be accepting teacher requests.

2024 planning

All NSW Public Schools are staffed through enrolment numbers and associated formulae. Therefore, in order to plan appropriately for the 2024 school year, we need to know as accurately as possible our anticipated student numbers for next year.

  • If your child is leaving Roselea Public School at the end of 2023 and will not be returning next year, please let the school know by sending the office an email. roselea-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au

Kindy 2024

If you haven’t enrolled your child yet or you know someone whose child will be starting at Roselea PS in 2024, please get them to enrol online using the following link: https://roselea-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html

We still have one more Kindergarten orientation session coming up on Wednesday 22nd November.

Parent to parent communication

We are incredibly fortunate to have such wonderfully behaved students here at Roselea Public School. Occasionally, there may be incidents that happen in the playground or in the classroom. As we start term 4, may I please remind you that any questions or concerns about incidents should be directed to the school and not to other parents. This allows us to properly investigate and educate as required.
