Go Jells Park PS

What a great run of success we are having at the moment!!

We know that all schools are busy places and Jells Park PS is no different. At the moment it seems that we have been 'coming up roses' with a number of great success stories, both in the academic stakes and in the extra-curricular activities. Huge congratulations to all the students if they have participated in one or more of the following:

  • Wakakirri NATIONAL Award winners - the best performance in Victoria as judged by the National selectors - out best ever.
  • Gotcha4Life Rowing Fundraiser - raised over $2500.
  • Basketball - our Senior Girls team making it to the Region Championships (played today) - been a while since we have been at a regional comp.
  • Regional Athletics - a batch of students competed really well as the highly competitive Eastern Regional Championships, with one student making it through to State Champs.
  • State School Spectacular - another amazing performance by Victorian school students, including a group from Jells Park PS, plus Mrs Pratt as a conductor.
  • JP Racing (Casey Fields) - first time we have run 4 vehicles, with three top 10 finishes, the best being 2nd place. Bring on Maryborough!!
  • Maths Talent Quest - excellent results for individual and class projects, with one National Award.
  • Australasian Problem Solving Maths Olympiad - high performance by all students that participated.
  • ICAS - the best results in the last 3 years, with one Medal Winner - our first ever.

And let's not forget, on World Teachers Day, that these events and activities all come about due to the hard work and passion of the Jells Park PS staff. Please don't forget to say thanks and acknowledge their contribution.

  • (Can't forget) Mrs Heather Cook - what a marvel, still running around the Hockey field, picking up National Championship medals (see later article in Success Stories). Congratulations Mrs Cook.

School Grounds and Works

Apologies for the disruption around the Junior Playground, however when all the works are done the front of the school will look outstanding. The area will be artificially grassed, making it look great, safer for the students and long lasting.

HATS - Term 4

Reminder again that in Term 4 our Sun Safe Policy kicks in and it is an expectation that all students wear a school hat at recess and lunchtime. I know the weather has been pretty poor, but it will heat up soon and hats will be required. Please check that your child's hat meets the regulation - either broad rimmed, bucket or legionnaires style.

Leaving Jells Park PS??

If any family is aware that they will be leaving Jells Park PS for some reason at the end of the year (other than Level 6's), it would be greatly appreciated if you would let us know immediately. We are getting regular enquiries for enroling at our school and I would like to accommodate these families if possible. Earlier notice helps our planning on these matters.

Thanks,

Kevin Oakey

Principal

World Teacher's Day

Today we acknowledge the amazing teachers at JPPS for their hard work, dedication and love for their students. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, shaping the hearts and minds of our future leaders and generations. JPPS teachers enjoyed a muffin and a zooper dooper for morning tea. Please take some time to thank your child's teacher or maybe your own former teacher and best wishes to the many JPPS parents who are also teachers in our community.

Conflict in the Middle East

Please see below communication from the Department of Education regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East including some links of support if needed.

Dear parents and carers,

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to cause distress for staff, students, families and carers, especially those who have family and friends in the region.

Our school is a rich and diverse community and acknowledging that it is vital that our students, staff and families all feel safe and included in everything we do.

I want to assure you that the department is monitoring the situation from a school security perspective.

While we want to maintain an open and welcoming environment, we are also being vigilant in terms of safety, ensuring all our procedures, like visitors signing in and out, are being followed.

If your child is impacted and/or distressed by the current conflict, you may find some aspects of this resource helpful:

Support is also available through external services including:

Please feel free to get in contact me if you would like to discuss this further.

Have a lovely weekend.
