Rocco Eastwood made a quickfire 44 at the end with some big hitting from Jaxon Jarrett - 12 not out - seeing GIHS finishing on 2 for 335 after 40 overs.

Thursday 26 October

In Week 1, our girls stepped onto the cricket field with passion and determination, ready to take on Tenterfield. With a mix of experienced players and newcomers making their cricket debut, it was a day filled with excitement, learning, and camaraderie.

Batting first, our team posted a solid total of 114 runs. The opening batters, Alex Wright and Sophie Watt, got the innings off to a promising start. However, it was the impressive partnership between Maisie Eastwood and Louisa Beaty that truly stood out, showcasing the team's ability to run between the wickets effectively. Maisie emerged as the top run-scorer for our team, contributing 28 valuable runs.

Confident in our performance, we took to the field with high spirits. Our bowlers made their presence felt early in the game, claiming two wickets in quick succession. Edith Newbury delivered an outstanding performance, taking 2 wickets for 32 runs. Maisie Eastwood also made her mark by securing 1 wicket for 15 runs, while Sophie Watt celebrated her first-ever wicket – a memorable milestone in her cricket journey. Charlotte McHarg bowled exceptionally well, boasting figures of 0 for 5 runs and delivering two maiden overs.

Despite our best efforts, Tenterfield managed to post a total of 116 for the loss of 4 wickets, narrowly ending our hopes of advancing to round 2. It was a tough defeat, but it was a day that highlighted the talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship of our cricket team.

The camaraderie and support demonstrated by our girls did not go unnoticed. The leg umpire was particularly impressed by the unity and encouragement displayed by our team, a testament to the strong bond that has developed within the squad.

While our journey in this competition may have concluded for this season, our girls have learned valuable lessons and gained experience that will undoubtedly serve them well in the future. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and spirit, and we look forward to more exciting cricket adventures ahead.

Congratulations to all the players, and a special shoutout to Maisie Eastwood for her remarkable performance. Well done, team!

Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming sporting events as we continue to support and cheer for our talented athletes.
