Principal Address

Dear Parents,

Over the past three days, I’ve had the privilege of being in Canberra with our Year 6 students and Miss Thomas. It was a joy to spend this time with such a great group of young leaders and their teacher. At nearly every location we visited, staff and guides commented on what a pleasure it was to host our students, respectful, engaged, and full of thoughtful questions. In particular, while visiting Parliament, I was so proud to see the depth of understanding and insightful questions coming from the students, clearly building on their learning from the recent History unit on democracy.

I continue to be a strong believer in the value of outdoor education. Going away together gives students a different kind of learning experience, one where they develop independence, teamwork, and resilience in a safe, supported environment. The laughter, conversations, and shared memories they create are often the things they remember long after the details of the trip fade. These are rich opportunities that simply can’t be replicated in the classroom. At a time when many schools are scaling back on camps, due to growing pressures around staff reimbursements and leave entitlements, I’m incredibly thankful for our staff who continue to see the lasting value of these experiences and give of themselves to make them possible.

Congratulations to our students who represented the school at the Soccer/Netball Gala Day on Monday. Everyone did their best and represented the school with pride. Regardless of the results, our students represented our school with great sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and teamwork. It was great to see them encouraging one another and giving their best on the field and court. Please see the photos and we are thankful to Miss May Bailey for capturing these memories.

A quick reminder about Parent Teacher Interviews coming up in Week 10 - thank you to all the parents who have already booked in for a time. These conversations are a valuable part of our partnership, allowing us to celebrate progress and talk through areas of growth and support.

Next week our Kindergarten students, are about to mark 100 Days of Kindy. Mrs Davila, Mrs Gunamie, and Miss Kinnear have been busy preparing a special day for the students, with a fun “100 Days Brighter” theme to help celebrate how far they’ve come in just a few short months. We are so proud of this great group of students!

My door is always open.
