Senior School Students Gain Valuable Insights at Career and Education Presentations:
This week our Senior School students in Years 10 to 12 participated in an informative series of presentations designed to support their transition into further education and career pathways.
Representatives from SuniTAFE, La Trobe University, and the Murray Mallee Local Learning and Employment Network (MMLLEN) visited the school to showcase the wide array of courses and apprenticeship opportunities available to students. These presentations provided an excellent overview of the diverse study and training options across the region, helping students better understand the pathways they can pursue post-secondary school. Students were particularly engaged in learning about hands-on training programs, university entry pathways, and the support services available to them as they move into further study or work.
In addition to the career and tertiary education information, students also took part in an engaging workshop delivered by Elevate Education. Elevate's high-impact presentation focused on study skills and strategies aimed at boosting academic performance. The session provided practical tools and techniques to improve learning outcomes empowering students with skills to take charge of their own academic success.
Guest speakers, Adam Laughlin & Andrew Gilchrist, provided the students with insights into careers in Accounting and Financial Services. Interestingly, Adam is an ex-student of Kerang Technical High School.
We are incredibly pleased with the way our students conducted themselves throughout the day. Their attentiveness, questions, and enthusiasm were commendable and demonstrated a genuine interest in planning for their futures.
We thank SuniTAFE, La Trobe University, Murray Mallee LLEN, and Elevate Education for their time and commitment to supporting our students. Events like these are crucial in helping our young people make informed decisions and feel confident about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Busy Week Ahead for KTHS Students Exploring Career Pathways:
Next week is shaping up to be an action-packed time for Kerang Technical High School students as they engage in a range of activities focused on future career pathways.
Over 30 Year 10 students will be stepping into the world of work as they take part in Work Experience Week. Students will be placed across a wide variety of industries throughout the local district, including Swan Hill. Some of the sectors our students will be exploring include welding, electrical, building and construction, beauty therapy, hair salons, and small engines, just to name a few.
Work Experience provides students with invaluable insights into the working world—offering a taste of real-life employment, the chance to build practical skills, and a clearer understanding of what certain jobs involve on a day-to-day basis. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the local businesses and employers who generously opened their doors to support our students during this vital learning experience.
Meanwhile, Year 9 students will have the opportunity to hear from representatives of the Australian Defence Force when they visit Kerang next week. This session will give students an introduction to the variety of career opportunities available in the Defence Force and the skills and qualities they look for in future recruits.
Also happening next week, our Year 11 and 12 students will be travelling to Bendigo to take part in the Tomorrow Bound seminars. These sessions focus on tertiary education options and help students explore different study and career pathways beyond high school.
With so many opportunities happening across the week, we are proud to see our students actively engaging in experiences that will shape their futures. Whether they’re stepping into a workplace, attending a seminar, or learning about careers in defence, KTHS students are building the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about life beyond school.
