Kitchen Garden

On Tuesday 6th of May, our Foundation students had their first Kitchen Garden session. We came together in our undercover outdoor space and began brainstorming and investigating our aromatic herbs that are growing in our garden beds. Using our three senses of touch, smell and taste, we explored the different varieties to see if any of them were familiar and if it reminded us of any favourite meals, for example pizza, pasta or delicious roasts.

All of our brainstorming made us feel very peckish so we decided that in our next Kitchen Garden session we will make pizzas and use our herbs to flavour them, while we sing Mrs Scantleton’s ‘Pizzeria’ song.

It was a beautiful fresh sunny morning and even though we had had some rain a few days earlier, our garden beds still looked like they needed a drink of water. All of the Foundation students had the opportunity to give our garden beds a well needed top up.

Back in the classroom, our Foundation students continued their learning with designing garden labels. These labels will be placed in our garden beds to identify where we are growing our herbs.

Thank you to Lauren and Adele, who came along and assisted in our session. We are looking forward to our cooking session on Tuesday 27th of May.
