What to pack

All students are required to wear the correct school uniform to and from the Aquadome. Students are permitted to wear bathers under their uniform (board shorts must be above the knees).

Please bring a towel, a plastic bag for wet items, a change of underwear, a snack and enough water to last the time at the pool. Please ensure all swimming items are labelled.

Any medication required will be taken to the pool by the classroom teacher.

Students are not permitted to bring mobile phones or smart watches or purchase items from the Aquadome Canteen.

Changing

We want children to be as independent as possible and we ask that you support your child by allowing them to be responsible for preparing for their swimming lessons and changing back into their uniforms for school.

The following information comes from the DfE Swimming and Water Safety Team and the Elizabeth Aquadome:

  • The Aquadome has a spectator fee of $2 per person for any parent attending to watch their child swim. This is not a department imposed fee. This is an Aquadome condition of entry.
  • Any parents who attend will need to sit in the designated areas. The spaces directly on pool deck are set aside for students instructors and teaching staff only.
  • Parents are not permitted to approach the pool nor any student during the lessons.
  • Any parent enquiry related to the program needs to be directed to the school, to then be discussed with the Swimming and Water Safety team if necessary.

Providing a safe environment is a key priority at Greenwith Primary School and in supporting the Child Protection Curriculum Practices and Protective Practices Guidelines no photography of students will be permittedPlease note: Photographs and videos of any child cannot be taken by adults; this includes family members and Greenwith Primary School staff.

Helpful Hints

To help our school community better prepare for swimming, teaching staff have also shared the following helpful hints:

  • Make sure all items are clearly labelled, including bathers, clothing, goggles and towels.
  • Hooded towels are fabulous for allowing students to be hands-free while dressing and drying. They also add that extra bit of privacy while changing.
  • Practice with your child prior to swimming lessons on getting into and out of their swimming clothes and into their school uniforms. Make it a game and set a timer.
  • Have a spare bag to put all their wet clothes in.
  • Pack a snack as they get hungry after swimming.
  • Challenge your child (year 3/4/5) to pack their own swimming bag so they are aware of all the things they should take for swimming and also so they know what to bring home.
  • Teaching your child independence with dressing and undressing before swimming is a fabulous idea.
  • Goggles are very important to help the eyes as the water can be very chlorinated.

A reminder that the payment and consent forms are due Sunday 11th of May. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept late payments as numbers are finalised with the pool on the morning of Monday 12th of May.
