Foundation News

This term, Foundation students have been exploring living things—how they grow, change, and survive. During a special Reptile Encounters incursion, students observed common animal features such as heads, legs, tails, and scales, and discussed how these body parts help them move, feed, and stay safe. They also explored how different animals live in different places—on land, in water, or both.

Students also went on insect hunts around the school, documenting their discoveries and identifying similarities and differences between the creatures they found.

It’s been a busy few weeks! We celebrated Pyjama Day, which was lots of fun. We created a class wreath, and attended the whole-school ANZAC Day assembly to show our respect and remembrance. And we couldn’t believe Foundation were the first year level to be awarded the Rubbish Ranger trophy and an extra 10 minutes of play for having the tidiest outdoor area!

Team Building Incursion

Last Friday, our Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting and energetic incursion run by Supreme Incursions. The session had a team building focus and was filled with engaging activities designed to help students strengthen their communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills – all while having a whole lot of fun!

Students worked together to build tall towers using wooden blocks - they tested their balance, patience, and ability to listen to each other’s ideas. In another challenge, they had to lift a ball using only a small parachute — no hands allowed - and this required careful co-ordination, gentle movement, and lots of encouraging words. Another activity saw teams using ropes and hooks to collect a range of objects from the floor; success came only when teams communicated clearly and worked as one.

It was wonderful to see students collaborating with both familiar faces and new friends. They were encouraged to take turns, bounce back after setbacks, think creatively to solve problems, and offer positive feedback to team members. There were many proud moments as students showed resilience, supported their peers, and celebrated team achievements.
