Celebrating Student and Staff Success at St Peter’s
Even when things appear quiet on the surface, there is always a great deal happening at St Peter’s. Over the past fortnight, our students and staff have taken part in a wide range of meaningful experiences that highlight the many ways our school community can grow, shine, and thrive. Below are just a few of the events our staff and students have participated in.
Careers and Trades Expo
This week, Year 9 and Year 11 VCE-VM students from both campuses attended the Southeast Careers and Try a Trade Expo. This hands-on event gave students the chance to explore a wide range of industries, speak with professionals, and engage in practical activities across numerous trades and career pathways. It was particularly timely for Year 9s preparing for subject selection and for Year 11s considering their post-school futures.
Thanks must go to Ms Mel Dillon and Ms Robyn Cardamone for organizing this valuable opportunity for our students.
Behavioral Economics at Monash
Recently, VCE Economics students visited Monash University for a Behavioral Economics excursion. Students participated in interactive experiments and seminars led by PhD candidates, gaining insight into how individuals make decisions in real-world economic contexts. The excursion deepened their classroom learning and offered a glimpse into university-level study.
Thanks to Ms Anouska Ozaki and Dr Marc Morgan for organizing this enriching experience.
Public Speaking Competition
Last Thursday, Year 8, 9, and 11 students from both campuses represented St Peter’s at the Public Speaking Competition at Padua College in Mornington. Competing against eight other schools—including overall winners John Paul College—each student delivered both a prepared and impromptu speech.
We are proud of the confident and articulate performances from:
Juniors: Nick Ragona, Harnoor Kaur, Ruva Chimombe, Malachi Leafa, Isabella Santos, Michelle Jaysuria, Menelli Jaysuria, Noura Abdulkareem and Saumya Nepal
Intermediate: Charlotte Rickard, Marley Dellacroce and Tanishka Pal
Seniors:Aryan Gill, Khushi Kukadiya, Antonio Alonday and Ashley Bijoy
We also thank Ms. Laurelle Young, Ms. Portia Subotsch and Mr. Jake Charman for their expert coaching and support on the day.
VCE Theatre Performance – Puffs
Our VCE Theatre Studies students from the Cranbourne Campus recently performed Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic at the Geode Centre. With a beautiful blend of humor and heart, the show reminded us that greatness isn't only found in the spotlight—even those who feel overlooked can discover courage, friendship, and meaning.
Congratulations to the cast, backstage crew, and lighting and tech team. Special thanks to Mr. Chris Tharle for his exceptional set design and to Ms. Mady Allan for her expert direction throughout the production.
Expert Teacher Practice Conference
Not to be left out, St Peter’s staff also had a chance to shine as we hosted the inaugural Expert Teacher Practice Conference at the Geode Centre. Staff from across Victoria gathered to hear from leaders in education on a range of topics—including the use and challenges of AI in education, student feedback strategies, and more. The event was both insightful and inspiring, giving our educators the opportunity to step into the role of learner.
Congratulations to Ms. Jade Smith, Pam Fox, and the entire ETPC Committee on a highly successful and professionally enriching event.
