Visual Art
Here are some fabulous 3D creations by Level 5 students, who made their own 'World' using arial photographs as backgrounds and lots of different natural, recycled and landscaping materials. Inhabitants of their worlds were made with plasticine and other materials, creating an inviting and interesting scene. Students were inspired by a painting ‘A room made of Water’ by artist Leah Bullen 2024, and the book ‘Planet Earth’ by the German Aerospace Centre.
These wonderful works are currently on display: 5A in the foyer, 5B in their learning space and 5C in the library. Please come and have a look!
Love Art!

Mandarin
This week in Mandarin, our Grade 3/4 students have been exploring the topic of hobbies (爱好 – àihào)! They focused on asking and answering questions about their favorite activities, practicing both spoken and written forms. It’s fantastic to see students confidently using Mandarin to express their interests—great job, everyone!
This week in Mandarin, our Grade 5/6 students have been expanding their language skills by learning how to talk about school subjects, activities, and telling time in Chinese. They have also been practicing writing sentences about their schedules, confidently expressing when they have certain classes or activities.
You are all amazing!

Physical Education
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope it was a restful break with plenty of time to recharge batteries and catch up with family and friends.
This term is a busy one!! We have our Cross-Country, Athletics Carnival and Interschool Sport for our Level 5/6 students - starting in week 3.
In P.E lessons, Levels F-2 will be honing their catching and throwing skills across a number of fun games and sports.
Levels 3-6 will be spending the first three weeks developing their AFL skills based on the modified AFL 9's format. For the rest of the term, they will practise different athletics skills leading into the Athletics Carnival.
As a reminder, details related to our Cross-Country next Wednesday are posted below. If any parents would still like to volunteer, please see Mrs Foster/Mr Davies, or let your classroom teacher know. The more helpers we have, the better!!
Also, included below is a copy of the T2 Interschool Sports timetable which shows where the 5/6 students are playing each week.
House Cross Country – Levels 3-6
The House Cross Country event for Levels 3-6 will take place on Wednesday, 7th May, at Spring Street Reserve. This is a great opportunity for students to earn house points, showcase their school spirit, and compete for a spot in the District Cross Country Carnival on Tuesday, 20th May, at Dendy Park Reserve.
Students will compete in the age they turn in 2025. Race distances are as follows:
- Grade 3 Girls & Boys – 1km (1 lap)
- 9/10 Years Girls & Boys – 2 km (2 laps)
- 11 Years Girls & Boys – 3 km (3 laps)
- 12/13 Years Girls & Boys – 3 km (3 laps)
The Top 12 students from Levels 4-6 will qualify for the District competition.
Students are encouraged to wear their house colours and appropriate running footwear for the event. Let’s see some house pride out on the course!
📢 Parent Reminder: Please ensure you have given permission for this event via Compass. Additionally, to make this event a success, we need parent helpers to act as course marshals. If you are available to assist, please indicate this when completing the Compass event permission form.
A course map is below for those who may wish to get some extra practice over the holidays.
We look forward to a fantastic day of running, fun, and school spirit!

Science
Foundation
Foundation have started to learn about our planet, as part of their Earth and Space Unit called 'Look Up'. During week 1 they studied maps, learning about the 7 continents and the main animals on each continent. This week they have looked at globes and have taken a trip around the world.
Level 1 & 2s
Level 1 and 2s are finalising their Weather and the Seasons topic. Last week they learnt how to read a thermometer while studying temperature. This week they are learning about rainfall and reading a weather report.
Level 3 & 4s
Level 3 & 4 are wrapping up their study of Forces. During Week 1 we used a compass to find treasure on a treasure map. This week we are experimenting with the creation of a bike helmet and then testing it using an egg! A staff member is volunteering to help the students test safety equipment.
Level 5 & 6s
Our Level 5 & 6 students have investigated our school habitat and they have discovered extraordinary creatures, with unusual adaptations. Stay tuned!
