What an incredible day we had at our annual House Cross Country! The school community came together in a fantastic display of team spirit, perseverance, and positive energy. With colourful house shirts, enthusiastic cheering, and determined runners from every year level, the event was a true celebration of effort and encouragement.
Students from Prep to Grade 6 took to the course with impressive focus and determination. It was inspiring to see everyone give their personal best—whether they were aiming for a top finish or simply striving to complete the course. The supportive atmosphere, both on and off the track, made the day one to remember.
A big congratulations goes to all students for participating so enthusiastically. Special recognition to our senior students who acted as course marshals and pace setters for the younger year levels—your leadership helped the day run smoothly and set a great example for others.
Of course, it wouldn’t be House Cross Country without the friendly competition between our four Houses. Congratulations to Cuthbert (Yellow) House, who earned the most points on the day and took home the coveted House Cross Country Shield!
A big thank our staff and parent helper who marshalled, ran, packed up cones and collated results. Your involvement made it a truly special community event.
We also want to extend a very special thank you to Brad Buyck, a dedicated dad who has been the quiet powerhouse behind our Cross Country success over the past five years. Brad has run countless kilometres (often more than the students!), helped design and set up our courses, and played a key role in transforming the event. In 2021, thanks to Brad’s support and initiative, we evolved from a Grade 3–6 event into a whole school celebration—something we’re incredibly proud of today.
Brad, your contribution has been invaluable, and we are truly grateful.
With his youngest child graduating in 2025 this will be Brad's final lap, so we’re officially on the lookout for some new parent champions to help fill his running shoes from 2026 onward! If you love running, or just enjoy being part of a great school event—let us know. Not everyone can run marathon level kilometers like Brad, but sharing the load with lots of helpers only shorter legs of running are needed!
A huge thank you to all staff, students, and families who supported the day. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
Congratulations to all our Grade 3-6 students who qualified for the District Cross Country that will be held next Tuesday 20th May at Quambee Reserve. We know you will represent Holy Spirit with pride!
