Assistant Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers of the BEPS community,
Mother's Day (Mother's Day stall) ⋆.˚✮𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕪𝕠𝕦✮˚.⋆
Happy Mother's Day to all our community's wonderful mums and mum figures. We hope your Sunday was filled with love, joy, pancakes and appreciation for all that you do! Our Mother's Day Stall was a massive success last Thursday and Friday.
A huge thank you to all the wonderful parents who helped make our Mother's Day Stall a success! From setting up to assisting students in choosing the perfect gifts, your time and support were truly appreciated. We hope all our mums, grandmothers and special carers enjoyed their surprises and felt the love on Mother's Day!
A perfect moment to thank all our amazing parents who volunteer their time and efforts to our fundraising efforts and/or the School Council and Parents Association. We couldn't function effectively without these contributions and such a committed collection of parents.
PLA Lunch: 🍕🍕😋ᵞᵁᴹᴹᵞ😋
Last week, we held a special pizza lunch to congratulate the recipients of the Term 1 Principal Learning Award. This is a fabulous way to recognise and celebrate these students' outstanding achievements. Students receive a Principal Learning Award based on their demonstration of school values, motivation and confidence, perseverance, and their collaboration with teachers and peers to reach learning goals. Congratulations once again!
District Cross Country 🏃♀️
We were fortunate to enjoy perfect weather for our runners on Friday 9 May at District Cross Country. Congratulations to all our students who competed on the day! Thank you to our parents who cheered on our BEPS students. We are grateful for the strong sense of community and teamwork that made the day successful. Well done and congratulations to all our students on the day.
Education Week:
We are excited to invite families to our Open afternoon on Thursday 22 May, as part of Victoria's Education Week, which runs from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May, 2025. This year's theme, 'Celebration of Cultures', highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.
Next Monday, students can wear their cultural dress and are encouraged to share their cultural backgrounds. On Thursday afternoon, families are warmly invited to spend time in their child's classroom, explore student work, and enjoy displays around the school that showcase the excellent learning of our community. It's a special opportunity to connect with your child's education, school, and celebrate the diversity that makes our school so unique. Come and visit our classrooms and celebrate all the excellent learning at BEPS.
Classrooms are open from 3.00 – 4.15 pm.
Foundation 2026:
Our Foundation 2026 tours commenced last week. If you have a child who will be commencing Foundation in 2026, please ensure that you enrol them as soon as possible via the digital Student Insight platform or pick up a hard copy enrolment form from Wendy or Narelle at the office. Do you know any neighbours or friends who are starting school with children next year? Please encourage them to register for one of our school tours by calling the office and registering online via the BEPS website.
Supervision:
With the weather turning cold (eventually!), students will not be left unsupervised in the yard before 8:45 am each morning. If you need to drop your child off at school earlier than this, we recommend booking them into Team Kids.
Unfortunately, the yard is unsupervised by staff before 8:45 am, and for legal reasons children cannot be in the yard without parental supervision.
Please help us to keep your child safe.
AToSS:
Over the coming weeks, our students in Years 4-6 will participate in the Student Attitudes to School Survey. This voluntary survey is designed to help us better understand students' thoughts and experiences at school. Your child's feedback can positively impact their engagement, wellbeing and overall quality of education. The survey asks your child about their feelings and opinions on BEPS, their learning, friendships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office, Teri or Edwina.
Swimming: 🏊🏻♀️
Please make swimming payments ASAP to secure your child's place in our swimming program this year.
Attendance:
It is important to note that if your child/children will be absent, you must notify the school via Compass.
Compass Education provides a Parent Portal, which includes marking your child/children absent if you know your child/children will be absent from school.
Steps to add an absence:
1. Open the Compass App.
2. Click on your child's photo at the top of the Home screen
3. Click on Attendance
4. Click the blue + icon
5. Type in the information required for the absence, including dates, times and the reason.
Please note that if parents do not enter their child's absence, you will receive a text message informing them that the child's absence is unexplained.
