Amazing Race | Mrs Shand and students

Acting Head of Primary, Mrs Fiona Shand

As the school year draws to an end, it is a wonderful time for us to all come together to celebrate and give thanks for the learning that has occurred, the friendships that have developed and our wonderful JWACS community.

The Year 6s ended the year with their Valedictory where their contribution to the School was acknowledged and the students reflected on who had inspired them and how they can inspire others. There were reflections from the Primary Years and a warm welcome to the Secondary School from the Head Prefects. Later in the week, it was time to enjoy the opportunity to dance the night away with friends at the highly anticipated Year 6 Dinner Dance.

Fun was definitely the focus at both Messy Mud Day and the Amazing Race. The Early Years students enjoyed monster mud play, slip and slide and the mud kitchen with lots of flowers and herbs.

Years 3 to 6 children participated in the Amazing Race where they also enjoyed mud fun, teamwork challenges and decorating the Christmas Gratitude Tree. Congratulations to the Black Swan Class who are the 2023 Amazing Race Champions!

The Year 5 and 6 Choir helped us to get into the Christmas Spirit with their beautiful performance at the City of Armadale Carols by Candlelight

The Christmas theme continued with the ELC performance of the ‘The Twinkly Nativity’. The Christmas message was shared and the Kindy, Pre-Primary and ELC children delighted us with their costumes, and their entertaining acting, singing and dancing.

Today, we concluded with Praise and Thanksgiving. This was a wonderful opportunity to reflect and acknowledge achievements from throughout the year and to express our gratitude and thanks to all the people who have made 2023 such a wonderful year at school. We enjoyed the entertaining performances from the Year 6s and the very talented Choir and Rock Band members.

All these events ensured that we had a lovely end to the term.

I would like to finish by expressing my personal gratitude to the John Wollaston Community. I have been blessed and privileged to be part of the School over the past 20 years. During this time, I have watched the children grow and flourish, worked closely with wonderfully supportive, encouraging and caring parents and been inspired by dedicated and passionate teachers. I thank each and every one of you for making my time at John Wollaston such a wonderful experience and I will cherish the memories made.

Thank you again and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
