ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to critique a text that they are reading (it could be a dot book, a library book or a text of their choice).

Ask them to use the following questions as a guide:

What was the purpose of the Text?

(often there is more than one purpose)

Some examples may be:

to entertain

to persuade

to describe something

to give instructions

to explain

to inform

What was your opinion of the text?

(how many stars would you give it out of 5, why?)

How could the text be Improved?

(what would you change about the text if you could?)
