Transition

On Sunday 19th November we welcomed 65 students and their parents/carers to the College as we commenced the Transition Program for 2024. The students were onsite until 4.00 pm Tuesday 21st November where they cycled through a program across all areas of the College to familiarise themselves with their surroundings.

Another important aspect of this Transition Program is to enable the students to commence developing friends and getting to know each other. This process has proven very successful in assisting to make the start-up to the next year smooth, effective and efficient.

It was great to see all the students at the College engaged. We look forward to their return next year and encourage them to finish off the best they can at their current school.  I wish them a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday break.

Parent Surveys

Thank you to the Year 11 parents who completed the survey. To date, 32 parents from the cohort of 68 students have provided their feedback via the survey. The Year 11 parent survey closes today at  10.00 pm

Year 10 parents received an email on Monday 20th November inviting them to complete the survey. To date, 18 parents from the cohort of 47 students have provided their feedback via the survey. The closing date for the Year 10 parents is 4th December at 9.00 pm.

Your feedback is an important part of the College’s continuous improvement and review processes as we strive to maintain the best possible learning and living environment, and opportunities for students. As it is an anonymous survey, I am unable to identify who needs to be followed up.

Compass Roll Out

This week we are rolling out Compass to parents/carers of our current Year 10 and 11 students, followed by our current Year 10 students next week. All new parents and students will be provided with information and their link at the beginning of next year.

If not already, parents will receive an email with a link that will enable them to log in and access the Parent Portal of Compass.

In the Weekly Wrap, Issue 27 late Term 3, Steve Watt provided some background information in relation to Compass.

Once parents and students have access to Compass, this will be our point of contact with you for several functions:

  • Distributing daily HAC Chat and the Weekly Wrap newsletters.
  • Publishing Term Calendars, plus any other messages to all parents, groups of parents or individual parents.
  • Provide data to enable you to monitor your child’s absences and for you to explain absences and medical certificates online.
  • Providing excursion details and enabling you to provide your permission and payment online.
  • Viewing your child’s timetable – in Compass this is referred to as a ‘Schedule’.
  • Accessing your child’s behaviour entries.
  • Booking parent-staff interviews at designated interview sessions aligned to reporting.

There are many functions that are available, and these will be rolled out over time.

A Mobile App is available. Both the iOS and Android applications are available to download for free from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.

We ask for your patience and support as this is rolled out and we provide access and visibility to your child’s profile. If there are any issues, please do not hesitate to contact the College and we will assist where we can or seek support from Compass.

Stay safe, look after each other and have a great weekend!
