Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

End of Year Community Event

This time last week we made the nervous decision to go ahead with our end of year school community event, despite heavy rain, soggy ground and hardly any market vendors remaining. Whilst it did mean forgoing much of the fundraising this celebration is designed to generate as our major Parents and Community Club school fundraising event, our priority was to ensure our students could still perform the dances they had worked so hard on.

And perform they did!

The flexibility of staff, students and families who swiftly adapted to a change of plans meant our student performances could still go ahead.

It was so encouraging to see what can be achieved when the whole community pulls together. We were blown away by the response of families who supported the evening regardless of the weather and the cancellation of picnic plans. Even though the conditions in the hall weren’t as optimal for viewing there were no complaints, and spirits remained high.

A special thanks to the ACS Parents and Community Club for their tireless efforts in planning and executing the event.  Thanks also to Bec, Kiam and home group teachers who choreographed the dance items.

Well done particulalry to all our performers who didn't seemed phased at all by the change in plans - what true show-people we have here at ACS!

End of year organisation

The final weeks and days of the term and year are creeping closer towards us. We have two full weeks of school left, jam packed with lots of activities, celebrations, transitions and learning.

Please do check the 'dates to remember' at the front of this newsletter so you don't miss something special.

Arrangements for the final days of school

On Monday the 18th December we will hold our final whole school assembly for the year.

This will begin at 2:20pm so that we can get through quite a few special end of year celebrations and awards.

Monday 18th will also be the final day of our regular 2023 program and the last day that students will be in the learning communities with the classroom teachers.

On Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th, an alternative learning program will be provided for students in attendance at school. This program will be run by ACS staff but will look different to what has been a typical day in class for your child in 2023. We will send out more information in the week before so that you and your child/ren can best prepare for this change.

Students will all be dismissed at 1:25 on Wednesday the 20th of December- ready for what is hopefully going to be a lovely warm and relaxing summer break!

Creek Coin Rewards

Today Eva and Orlando 'cashed in' their well earned Creek Coins for a special lunch with Andrea. These two Year 1 students have continually demonstrated our school values this year, in fact they had already achieved 100 Creek Coins prior to today!

Eva and Orlando were quick to describe what it is they do consistently to received Creek Coins - Active listening. They told us all about how to be an active listener in class and the importance of trying your best to listen to the teachers and the other students. We also heard that they are both very good readers and do lots of reading at home and in class.

Well done Eva and Orlando!
