NETBALL

It was the final round of the Hamilton Netball Association competition on the weekend and all the College teams finished the season strongly, showing great development across all the courts.

Junior Netball

Although the weather was less than ideal, our Year 3/4 team braved the rain, showing skill improvement as well as great wet-weather play. Thank you to all the volunteers who made our youngest netball team playing possible.

Our keen Year 5/6 girls played an amazing last game, showing their commitment to learning and their love for the sport, with a convincing win over Coleraine. The girls impressed spectators with outstanding shooting and defence from Ruby Price and strong midcourt work from Imogen Johns, contributing greatly to the team's strength.

Senior Netball

In the Year 7/8 competition, our teams faced strong opposition, both playing against well-drilled Monivae sides. Unfortunately, neither side came away with a win. The College Magpies played well, showing an overall strong team connection, with amazing shooting from Anna Lanyon and great determination from Abigail Henderson.

Despite going down, the College Vixens team proved that hard work pays off, showing what they had learned at training on the court and gelling as a competitive team.

In the Years 9-12 competition the College Diamonds defeated Baimbridge 25-12, finishing the season with only one loss. An outstanding performance came from Liv Read, who took many intercepts and showed her ability all over the court. Thank you to Elsie Adams and Isla McClure for filling in for the Diamonds. The College Swifts fought hard but went down to stiff competition, with the defensive duo of Elsie Adams and Henreitta Russell developing into a strong combination, and Belle Wallis showing her ability in goals.

Thank you

We would like to acknowledge and thank all the College umpires who make these games possible:

Sarah Alderman, Louise Patterson, Neve McClure, Maya Gallagher, Suse McClure, Ava Murrihy, Susie Holcombe, Mrs Malseed, and Mrs Ogle.

As well as coaches Elsie Adams, Sarah Richardson, Mrs Malseed and Miss Dixon and the many volunteers who stepped up for the development of our junior sides.

To Mrs Lisa Spence, Mrs Sha Galagher, Mrs Melissa McDonald and Mrs Emily Hausler - thank you for all that you have done as team managers.  Thanks to our parent helpers and supporters as well, who always offer encouragement on the sidelines.

Netball Co-Captain

I would like to second the thank-you's from above – there are a lot of people who I regularly call on for assistance with roles to help the competition run. I truly appreciate your help.

A REMINDER THAT THE COMMITTEE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR NEXT YEAR – if we don’t get approximately five people from across the netball community to share the roles (it doesn’t have to have a set number of helpers to run, but the more people the more the job is shared) then we will not have a netball competition next year.

If you are at all interested in helping and would like for our players to be able to continue, then please contact Melissa Kruger (Hamilton Netball Association).  Alternatively, contact David Eastwood, or one of the current committee members.  It would be terrible to see the competition be lost, given that we have had such a strong comp throughout the year.
