Park Play, Exams, Graduation
The term has started well for our Year 7 and 8 students. They are enjoying wearing their summer uniform and the warmer weather has lifted spirits - Levels 2, 3 and 5 are certainly lively places during break times.
A reminder that Park Play continues to run in Central Park on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during lunch times and Lunch on the Lawn, opposite the Cathedral, runs every Monday during lunch. No booking or enrolment is required. If students wish to participate in these opportunities, they should attend ground floor at the start of lunch and wait for the duty teacher to escort them out of the building to enjoy the sunshine.
Year 7 and 8 students continue to check in each week using the wellbeing App, Pulse. Not only does this check-in provide insight for pastoral staff on how each student and cohort is tracking each week, but it also provides an opportunity for students to send notes of gratitude to each other and to their teachers. So far this year 2580 notes of gratitude have been sent via this App, with the most frequent gratitude category being kindness. 71% of these students have expressed gratitude at least once this year. Each note of gratitude contributes towards strengthening the community in each of these year groups.

Head of Year 7 & 8
Term Four will bring some excitement for our Year 9s who finally get to attend their much-anticipated camp in Week 7. Students should have received camp forms in their PCG this week and are required to hand these forms back to their PCG teachers by November 6.
Week 7 is also when our Year 10s begin their exams. Students are reminded to make the most of their time this term and take in all the feedback that class teachers provide to assist them as they plan for Semester Two Examinations. Homework Club and Maths Club are provided to students weekly and are a good opportunity for students to get some extra feedback from their teachers and to learn to study well.
I wish all the Year 9 and 10 students a wonderful Term 4.
Be sure to remember your blazer for Chapel on Mondays.

Head of Year 9 & 10
It has been a memorable two weeks for our senior students.
We welcomed our new incoming Student Guild for 2024 and I would like to congratulate them all as their hard work and effort over their years at St George’s has been recognised in their election to these significant leadership roles. To the outgoing Student Guild of 2023, thank you for your leadership. You all were the embodiment of each position, and we cannot thank you enough.
For the Year 12s, the farewell celebrations began with Wannabe Day - where students dressed up as career which they wished to pursue when they left St George’s. It was fantastic to see the aspirational (and not so aspirational!) vision that some students had for their futures beyond school. The day progressed with a few rounds of bowling at Rosemount Bowl with staff and ending with a sausage sizzle at Kings Park.
Wannabe Day was a lovely opportunity for the Year 12s to spend some time together as their time at school concludes, sharing these precious opportunities with members of the Executive team, their Head of Year and the Heads of House.
This brought about the final day of Valedictory; a day of celebration, nostalgia and sadness.
There were tears, by both staff and students. Most importantly, it was a chance for reflection upon their time here at St George’s.
To the graduating class of 2023, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Much like my reflection on the pilgrimage, I would like to send you off with a Ted Lasso quote: “For me, success is not about the wins and losses. It’s about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves on and off the field”.
Mr Peter Quan
Acting Head of Year 11 & 12
