A Time to Say Goodbye

How ironic it is that as we announce our Term Four school theme is “Welcome'', or “Growing in being a welcoming school'', we are also bidding farewell to our Year 12 Cohort, the Class of 2023. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, wisely tells us that: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Certainly, “There is A time to enrol into Year 7, and a time to exit in Year 12.”

Our Year 12s started their high school journey six years ago. In the beginning, it must have seemed a long way ahead for the then Year 7 students. But this past Wednesday, they reached the end of that long high school journey.

Now, in a position to look back, it perhaps seems like it was just yesterday when that journey started. We have not “thrown away” our Year 12s into the world, NO! Instead, we have sent them away with grace because we believe that in the last six years, we moulded them academically, spiritually, mentally, and in every way possible to make them world ready.

Indeed, they graduated into “a world in turmoil” - debate surrounding the recent Referendum here in Australia; the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine; and of late between Israel and Palestine. It is my hope that these young people will be of good courage, and will stand for what is just and right, and contribute to making this world a better place.
