Wannabe Day

On the second last day of school for Year 12s this week, the Class of 2023 arrived dressed as 'anything they want to be' for Wannabe Day.

The group was awash with police officers, sporting professionals, tradies, teachers, tech executives and so much more .

The Year 12 APEx students spent their last lesson together focussing on an activity about team building.

We looked at ‘impossible questions’, where groups had to discuss the question they were randomly allocated and try to come up with an answer. They also had to work together as a group to figure out how to make balloon animals (with some hilarious results!) and they also did a team quiz.

The idea of these activities was to promote lateral thinking skills, teamwork and fun! All things every one of us will need in a workplace every day.

Here are some photos from the day:

The Power of Forward Planning for Success in School and Work

In today's fast-paced world, the ability to plan ahead and stay organised is a cornerstone of success, not only in school, but also in the workplace. For our Year 10 and 11 students, who are approaching their Semester Two examination period, forward planning is especially critical to achieving their academic goals. The outcome of the Semester Two exams can determine the subjects you study in Senior School or your future career path – be sure to plan and study well.

While this can seem daunting, achieving goals is within your grasp. All you have to do is plan, something our Year 10 students are learning about in Pathways this term. However, you choose to plan for important events, the benefits are many and the rewards are great.

Here are eight reasons to start planning for goals you want to achieve.

1. Lower Stress Levels: Forward planning reduces stress and anxiety by providing a clear roadmap for tasks and responsibilities. This confidence boost translates into improved performance.

2. Time Management: Prioritising tasks and setting realistic deadlines ensures students make the most of their time. This leads to increased productivity and a better work-life balance.

3. Enhanced Goal Achievement: Effective planning breaks down long-term goals into manageable steps, making them more attainable. This structured approach fosters commitment and motivation.

4. Foster Adaptability: Being organised allows students to respond effectively to unexpected challenges and opportunities. It provides a solid foundation for informed decision-making and seizing new prospects.

5. Improved Quality of Work: Planning allocates ample time for research, preparation, and revision. This results in higher-quality outcomes, be it an exceptional essay or a meticulously crafted report.

6. Accountability: Establishing clear expectations through planning fosters a sense of accountability. With this accountability, students are more likely to meet their commitments and deadlines.

7. Proactive Problem-Solving: Organisation enables students to anticipate and address potential obstacles early. This proactive approach leads to efficient, effective solutions and demonstrates professionalism.

8. Long-Term Success: These skills create habits crucial for sustained achievement. Year 10 and 11 students, preparing for their Semester 2 exams, can position themselves for long-term success through forward planning and organisation..
