Principal's Report

Principal's Report
Dear Families,
What a sensational week of weather we have had to finish the term! It’s been wonderful to see our students out and about enjoying the sunshine after a very bleak end to last week which saw everyone inside to escape the wind chill factor and rain. We have heard many comments this week that “its so hot!” and spring is only just beginning.
Our primary students held a showcase of learning last Friday bringing many families and friends into our classrooms. The students were buzzing as they shared their learnings with the visitors and toured them around the classrooms and specialist spaces. It is always lovely to have our families visiting our school and seeing the pride shown by our students.
We have had several visits from the staff and students at Altona Early Years Hub. The children have loved visiting our playground and exploring the school environment.
Last evening, we had our first mini art show in the new precinct. I encourage all our families to take the time to drop in today after school to view the displays. The new area is certainly multipurpose, and we look forward to the future as electives expand further into the senior school within the VCE program and us showcasing their work from prep to year 12.
Staffing is an ongoing process here at the college and we are continuing to employ teaching staff and learning specialists to support our students and staff in 2024.
Mr Micheal Vilani commences in term 4 and will begin setting up our new design technology space. He will be facilitating some hands-on programs for groups of students in term 4. Mrs Lisamarie O’Connor has resigned, and her classes will be covered by Mrs Kay Sawyer in term 4 or a member of the English team. Mr Kelly returns from leave, and I extend my appreciation to Mrs Giles who has supported the primary team for the last 3 weeks. Mr Micheal Sperling and Mrs Casey Sperling will also return from leave in term 4. Mrs Danni Sinnott will join us in Year 7D English and homeroom and 7C English.
