Citizens of the Term 2023

Prep Citizen of the Term 3 2023

Congratulations Quinn!

I am delighted, and proud, to announce Quinn as the Foundation Unit citizen of the term, for Term 3. Quinn shows our school values of care, respect, excellence and community in all that she does throughout her time at school and is a very worthy recipient of this award. Quinn enters the classroom each morning with a big smile on her face, ready to start the day and brings this positive ‘can do’ attitude into everything she does. Quinn shows care in the way that she is kind to her peers both in the classroom and playground. She plays fairly and is friendly to all others at school. Quinn also shows care to her learning in the classroom, making sure that she has listened to the instructions carefully and then given her best effort at the task. Quinn consistently shows respect towards others and our school. She looks after our resources and plays appropriately with our toys and play equipment. Quinn uses her manners when talking with others, peers and teachers alike. Quinn has shown excellence this term in the way that she has persisted throughout some challenging learning and has developed resilience towards these situations. Quinn is an attentive listener in class. She is eager to learn and takes pride in the work she produces.

Congratulations Quinn, I am proud of your positive attitude to learning and all you have achieved this term. You are such a worthy recipient of the Foundation Unit Citizen of the Term and should be very proud of your efforts.

1/2 Citizen of the Term 3 2023

Congratulations Ally!

I am so pleased to announce that the citizen of the term for 1/2s is Ally. Ally is a pleasure to teach and be around each, and every day. She has a personality and smile that brightens up everyone’s day. From the moment that Ally comes to school, she is seen positively interacting with adults and students around her.  She is very easy to talk to and she takes the time out of her day to genuinely get to know others.

Ally is a patient, calm and friendly student who is always kind to those around her. She is often seen welcoming others into her games and activities to ensure that no one is left out. Ally is always thinking about how to help and look after others, and this is a wonderful example of how she genuinely demonstrates our school value of community.

Ally is an independent and organised learner who prides herself on doing her best. She works hard to always manage her time wisely. Although Ally started off the year as being a quieter and more reserved member of our classroom, Ally has worked hard to strengthen and develop her confidence. Ally is now able to confidently share her thoughts, strategies and work with the class.

Ally, you are a wonderful role model in all aspects of school life – how to be a trusted friend, be organised, use and demonstrate our school rules and learning behaviours, and how to be resilient to name just a few. We are all very proud of you Ally. Keep up the fabulous work.

3/4 Citizen of the Term 3 2023

Congratulations Hannah!

Hannah is an outstanding student who exemplifies each of the Ballarat North School Values of Care, Respect, Excellence and Community in all that she does. She is a highly valued and respected member of our school community, and her polite and gracious nature is appreciated by all.

Within the classroom Hannah is a focused and hardworking student who strives for excellence in all that she does. She consistently listens to and follows all instructions, she takes great pride in the neatness of her work, and she will always try her best no matter how challenging the task may be. Whilst always completing her work to a high standard, Hannah will still seek feedback and reflect on her learning as part of her relentless efforts to push herself and achieve her best. Her willingness to step outside of her comfort zone is a quality that is to be commended.

Hannah is also an incredibly kind and caring person to not only her friends, but to every member of the school community. Each morning, Hannah arrives early at school and she waits outside the classroom quietly, greeting every staff member she sees with a smile and a hello. While she may not know it, this small gesture is greatly appreciated and is a beautiful addition to the mornings of both staff and students. Hannah also shows great care and respect in the classroom where she is exceptionally helpful, kind and inclusive towards all of her peers. Hannah is very humble in nature, and she never expects any praise or recognition for her acts of kindness. Instead, she chooses to highlight and celebrate the achievements of those around her which is a testament to her selflessness and overwhelming generosity.

When discussed amongst the school community, Hannah is praised and complimented by all who have crossed her path. She is a valued member of our school Green Team, where she naturally embraces the role of being a leader and assists the younger students with the completion of various activities. When working with these students Hannah displays great patience and care, making her an outstanding role model for others. Hannah approaches all school events with an abundance of infectious enthusiasm, which adds a sprinkle of magic to our class community and the time we spend together.

Congratulations Hannah on this well-earned award. It is an absolute joy to teach you and it has been wonderful to watch you flourish and grow throughout the year. Well done!

5/6 Citizen of the Term 3 2023

 Congratulations Jack!

Jack, it is my privilege to stand here and share with your family, friends and school community why you have been chosen to receive this award – not that I believe they need any convincing.

I first taught you, Jack, when you were in Year One. I have always been impressed with the mature way in which you conduct yourself in the classroom and in the school yard. You are a kind, caring and courteous young man, interacting with others respectfully.

While you can be very quiet, and reserved, over the course of this year it has been pleasing to watch your confidence grow as you develop positive leadership qualities. You have demonstrated that you actively listen to others, and respond to others with questions to clarify or promote discussions. You consider others around you, and work hard to include them.

Jack, you are to be commended on the exceptional standard you set for your peers when it comes to your focus and commitment to your learning. You consistently strive for personal excellence; always seeking for ways to improve. I am amazed at the effort you consistently put in to ALL of your learning. Regardless of the task, I can count on you to give it 100%.

You are consistently first to the floor for learning; first to your table with your head down and completing tasks, and also first packed and ready to go home at the end of the day. This is a reflection not of your speed, but how organised and prepared you are.

You have had the opportunity to represent yourself, and our school at different interschool events, and do so with pride.

Jack, you should be very proud of the way in which you live out our school values and learning behaviours in all aspects of your education, everyday.

Congratulations once again, for being selected to be this term’s 5/6 Citizen of the Term recipient.
