Message from the

Director of  Learning - Senior School

Anna Papagiannopoulos

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

On Wednesday 18th October, our Year 12 Students had their final day of school. There were celebrations, laughter and a whole school assembly to send off our Class of 2023. It was a memorable final day for our students, who then went on to start their end-of-year exams on the 24th of October.

I want to congratulate and commend our students for their excellent attendance so far in their exams. Students have turned up on time, prepared and ready to go for each exam so far. Well done!

A few reminders as we continue on with this crucial period:

  • Try to arrive to school at least half an hour before your exam.
  • Bring all required materials. If you are missing something, please contact your subject teacher in advance.
  • Get a good nights’ sleep on the eve of an exam and maintain good sleeping habits throughout this period.
  • Eat well and ensure you have a good breakfast prior to any exams. Get those brains fed and ready to go!
  • Contact the school if you are not able to make it to an exam due to extreme illness, a traffic accident, or other extreme circumstance.

Well done and good luck on your remaining exams, Class of 2023!

Year 12 Graduation

Year 12 Graduation will take place on Thursday 23rd November from 6pm at the Clayton Church of Christ.

Come and join us to give the Class of 2023 a proper send off!

Please keep in mind that tickets have limited availability, and each student will be provided with an equal number of tickets for their family and friends.

Year 11 Update

Unit 2 studies continue for our Year 11 students. Students should endeavour to have all coursework completed before the final day of 2023 classes on Friday 24th November.

Please keep in mind that the Headstart Program for VCE students will run for only one week and the school year will end for these students on Friday 1st December.

Year 11 Exams will take place from Thursday 16th November until Tuesday 21st November. These will be run according to VCAA Examination Procedures to best prepare our Year 11s for the end-of-year exams in 2024.

As such, the following rules and expectations will be in place:

  • Students must be in full school uniform.
  • Students must bring their school ID card with them to each exam. If you do not have one, one can be purchased for $10 from the front office.
  • Students must have all their writing materials in a clear pencil case or plastic pocket.
  • All water bottles must be clear and free of any writing or labels.
  • Students must arrive at least 30 minutes before their exam begins.
  • Students must inform the school of their absence at the earliest possible time.
  • Any breach of the rules will result in a cancellation of the paper and a 0 grade.

Thank you for your continued support of our students.

VCE - ART MAKING AND EXHIBITING

The VCE final folios are now exhibiting in the main school corridor. The NEW 2023 subject has been challenging yet highly rewarding at the same time for the students. The artworks demonstrate deeper thinking of conceptual ideas, problem solving and critical awareness.

Jihan Ulil Amri’s work is a steal as she pushes boundaries in her influential political and artistic imagery. Her collages appear whimsical and clearly ‘punk rock’ in nature. Veronika Bogdanovska challenges the viewer with her sensuous ‘woman’ who not only represents beauty but also chaotic in real life.

George Paora brings to his audience imagery of sublime that of being ‘internal thoughts’ that move individuals through the power of music. George’s artwork is based on music album covers.

The artworks are hand drawn, printed on a canvas paper on the HP large format digital printer. Joey Jiang folio explored oceanic organisms and underwater creatures. She experimented with hand building ceramic techniques to represent natural forms recurring in underwater nature. Harry Chau’s ceramic artwork focused on Catholicism and the manipulation of hand building techniques using earthenware clay.
