Sports Update 

EMR TRACK AND FIELD – OVERALL CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

An amazing day was had at Knox Athletics Track on Monday the 9th of October. A team of 57 athletes boarded the buses and gave it their all across a stacked track & field program filled with the best athletes from 49 school across the Eastern Metropolitan Region.

Winning the day overall would not have been possible without each and every single student turning up and competing in their event(s). Vermont blitzed the competition finishing 1st with a grand total of 452.5 points, Balwyn High School placed 2nd with 409 points, and Ringwood Secondary College rounded out the overall standings in 3rd place with 378 points.

A huge thank you to the students for their incredible efforts, parents/guardians and carers for their ongoing support, Tom Smyth, Leanne Callegaro & Tony Jacobs for their assistance on the day, Shaun Gillespie for his amazing work on deck and behind the scenes, ex-student Lachlan Shanks for his help at relay training, and finally to David Clements, the brains trust and wizard behind all things relays!

There will be 11 individual students and 2 relay teams competing at the SSV State Track & Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium on Monday the 16th of October.

Special mention to our year 12 students who competed at their final EMR Track & Field event, which for some brings to a close many years of representing VSC. Abbey S, Kate M, Milli H, Amber T, Ebony A, Phoebe T. Thank you for your incredible contribution to the athletics program, I hope you look back fondly on all the memories that come along with the great sport that is athletics. Matthew V, Maddie H and Summer S will compete once more at the State Championships.
