PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Remembrance Day at KTHS:
On 11th November each year, Australians pause to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. At KTHS, Remembrance Day is an important moment for our school community to come together in reflection and respect.
This week, our staff and students gathered for a brief ceremony to mark the 106th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War. At 11am, the school observed one minute’s silence — a tradition shared across the nation — to remember those who gave their lives and those who returned carrying the lasting impacts of war.
Students learned about the significance of the red poppy, a symbol of remembrance that emerged from the battlefields of the Western Front. As part of our commemoration, representatives from school attended the town memorial, acknowledging not only the servicemen and women of the past, but also those who continue to serve today.
Remembrance Day remains a powerful reminder of the importance of peace, resilience, and unity. We thank our students for their respectful participation.
Lest we forget.
Showcasing KTHS Success:
Last Tuesday, 11th November, I was invited to participate in a Principal interview panel to discuss our significant improvements in student outcomes, as reflected in the latest School Report. The conversation focused on the strategic work underway at KTHS and the approaches that have contributed to our positive results.
I was asked to speak about several key areas, including:
Strategic and Whole-School Approach• The strategies and initiatives that had the greatest impact on our Attitudes to School Survey results• How we identified priority areas within the survey data• The processes we used to build staff ownership and ensure consistent implementation• The lead indicators and evidence we monitored to track early signs of improvement
Student Voice and Agency• How we ensure student feedback results in visible, meaningful changes that students can recognise and trust
Sustainability and Continuous Improvement• How we maintained momentum once improvements began and avoided slipping into complacency
This opportunity placed KTHS firmly on the map for all the right reasons. It reinforced that the work our staff are doing is not only being noticed but is making a genuine, positive difference. Parents and students can be confident that the direction we are taking is strengthening learning, wellbeing, and the overall experience at KTHS.
