Visual Arts Senior

We are well into the swing of our final term in art. Grade 3&4 students have been practising sketching and shading skills to create a portrait based on Tim Burton’s creepy style.

The grade 5&6 students finished off their spooky drawings which focussed on one-point perspective and sizing to create depth in their work. We then created colourful skulls using line to create different effects.

Performing Arts - Senior

Lots of exciting things are well under way in middle and senior schools in Performing Arts.

Grade 3 & 4’s have begun playing some songs on the glockenspiel, reading music while practising our rhythm notations and also correctly playing music notes. Our first song of the week, ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ was sounding fantastic! Well done to all students for giving it a go!

We have now started to shift our focus to Christmas concert singing. It may seem early, but these next 5 weeks before the concert will whizz past and each grade has lots of lyrics and dance actions to learn!

Classes 3 / 4 A, B and C will be performing at the concert together, while grades 3 / 4 D, E and F will band together.

Grades 6’s have now finished learning their Grade 6 graduation dance. They’ve done this in record time and I’m very proud of all the 6’s for learning this routine. Looking forward to Graduation Night!

The 5’s are nearly finished with their Music Projects and presentations of these will begin next week. We have also started this week the 5/6 Christmas concert song practise. These classes will also be learning a buddy song.

5 / 6 A, B and F will be performing their senior Christmas song together at the concert while 5 / 6 C, D and E will be joining forces.

Each year level will be performing plus the Buddies. Families can bring picnic rugs and food from 5pm. The Eltham Rotary Sausage Sizzle will be on also, so all we need is our school community spirit and some cracking Melbourne weather - which needs to be all sunshine and zero rain!

More information about the order of performances will be out in the Week 8 newsletter.

Thank you and have a lovely long weekend,
