Positive Behaviour for Learning

Every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach. |
Lesson Plan: Swimming Procedure | |
Step 1: List Learning Intentions and Success Criteria We are learning to : Get ready for our swimming lessons Be safe on the walk to the pool Be a safe participant in the pool Transition responsibly back to class
It will look like: Students being organised with swimming items Students listening to the swimming teachers and classroom teachers Students moving back to the classroom ready to learn, in a responsible manner
| |
Step 2: List a rationale for teaching the behaviour Why is it important?
Holy Rosary School Values: Relationships, Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Kindness.
Holy Rosary School Expectations: Safety is our right. Learning is our responsibility. Respect is our way.
| |
Step 3: Identify examples and non-examples of the desired behaviour What would the behaviour look/sound like? Examples Students being organised and packing their swimming items into a bag ready for swimming lessons Wearing bathers under school uniform for quick change at the pool Having names on all items students bring so as not to lose anything Walking quietly and calmly to the swimming pool in two lines Getting ready for lessons efficiently once at the pool - putting school uniform and shoes in swimming bag and getting goggles and towel ready Walking around the pool area Listening to the swimming teachers to ensure being safe in the pool and around others Getting dry and dressed quickly after lessons to ensure a smooth transition back to school
| |
What would the behaviour not look/sound like? Non-examples Forgetting swimming bag or bathers on swimming days Losing clothing items or goggles because they are not labeled Failing to stop at road crossings or listen to teachers instructions when walking to and from the pool Leaving clothes and shoes on the floor at the pool rather than in your bag Mucking around in the pool and talking to friends rather than listening to the teacher Running around the pool Talking too much when getting dry and changed and taking too long to get ready to walk back to school
