Year 3/4

Literacy
In Literacy, students have continued to enjoy our novel study, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory whilst enjoying watching some clips from the new and the old movie, making further connections with the text. We have been exploring a variety of poetry schemes such as shape poems and AABB, ABAB and ABCB poems.
Over the next few weeks, students will be delving into Biographies, Autobiographies and non-fiction narratives.
Maths
In Maths, students have been learning about Chance and Probability through a variety of activities. They have been looking at everyday events that involve chance, describing the possible outcomes as ‘likely’ or ‘unlikely’, ‘certain’ or ‘impossible’, and explaining their reasoning. Students have been ordering outcomes and events based on their likelihood of occurring and exploring independent and dependent events.
Students have explored angles in their environment, identifying real-life examples and discussing how they are used in everyday objects and spaces. They have been measuring and labelling angles using a protractor and created angles using classroom materials and their own bodies.
Over the next few weeks, students will be learning about transformation, location and symmetry.
Humanities
Over the next few weeks, students will be exploring Digital Technologies. They have already investigated a variety of User Interfaces, and designed a simple one, explaining how it would be used and the targeted audience.
Remembrance Day
Students commemorated Remembrance Day by participating in a Remembrance Day Ceremony joining in a minute of silence to honor those who have served in the armed forces and lost their lives in wars.
