Principal's Report

Fete
It was amazing to experience our 150-year celebration on Saturday. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and the day was a great success. I felt incredibly privileged to be a part of the event.
I would like to sincerely thank the organising committee for all their hard work. It took a massive amount of time to bring the day together and they worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you also to all the parent volunteers who helped with sausages, silent auctions and the many other important jobs that made the day possible.
It was wonderful to talk with former students, including some who attended Macedon Primary School in the 1940s and 1950s, and to hear their stories about the school over the years, including the creation of the Middle Gully Eco Shed. We also welcomed back a large number of former staff members who enjoyed exploring the school and seeing how it has continued to grow and evolve.
Our students had an amazing time. It was great to hear such positive feedback about the activities on offer. The gold panning and the horse and carriage rides were particular favourites. Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to a truly fantastic day for our school community.
Transition
We are beginning to transition our students into 2026. To help prepare them for next year, we will be running a series of sessions in their 2026 year level. These activities will not be in their 2026 class groups but will instead give students a general sense of what to expect in their new year level.
The first transition session will be held on 21 November, with students participating in Literacy activities.
On 28 November, they will take part in Numeracy activities.
On 9 December, students will meet their 2026 teacher and classmates and spend a session getting to know everyone and learning more about what next year will look like.
This program will conclude with a final transition day on 15 December.
We look forward to supporting all students through this process so that they feel confident and ready for a positive start to 2026.
Compass
We are excited to share that we will be transitioning from XUNO to Compass in 2026. Compass will allow the school to use a range of useful tools that are not currently available in XUNO, helping us to streamline communication and support teaching and learning.
Families will receive their Compass logins towards the end of the year. As we make the transition, previous reports and other key information will be available in Compass, so families can continue to access important records in one place.
We will provide families with more information soon, including how to log in and use the main features.
Eco Shed Power
We are excited to announce that the Eco Shed solar panels and battery have now been installed. This is a wonderful step forward for our school and supports our ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental education.
We would like to thank the Parents and Friends Association for all their fundraising efforts in making this project possible. Their hard work and the generous support of our school community have helped turn this long-term goal into a reality.
Over the next few weeks, we will be installing lighting, internal and external power points and a hot water service in the Eco Shed. We look forward to students and teachers being able to make full use of this improved space for learning and community projects.
Attendance
As part of our School Strategic Plan, we’re aiming to reduce student absences to an average of fewer than 17 days per student each year.
Regular attendance supports learning and wellbeing. Missing 20 days a year adds up to over a full year of school missed by Year 12.
So far this year, Macedon Primary students have missed 3469 days – an average of 15.08 days per student.
Thank you for supporting regular attendance. Every day counts!
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
