2025 Study Tour to China
It has been a month and a half since we returned from our China trip, yet it still feels like yesterday.
Towards the end of Term 3, a group of 24 VET Chinese Language students from Years 9 to 11, accompanied by four teachers, set out on an incredible 13-day journey through China. What began as a school trip quickly became an unforgettable cultural and linguistic adventure.
Our travels took us from the bustling streets of Shanghai to the ancient wonders of
Beijing, with plenty of discoveries in between. In Shanghai, students visited Shanghai International High School of BANZ for a cultural exchange, explored the city’s famous landmarks, learned to cook authentic dishes in a Chinese cooking class, and enjoyed the sparkling skyline on a Huangpu River Cruise.
From there, we ventured to Suzhou and Zhujiajiao Water Town, where students dressed in traditional Hanfu, crafted their own fans, and experienced the elegance of China’s classical gardens. A high-speed train ride then carried us north to Beijing, where the group walked along the Great Wall, wandered through the Forbidden City, and discovered Beijing’s charm through rickshaw tours of the Hutongs.
Each day was busy and fully packed with different activities and experiences, but it was all absolutely worth it. The students embraced every challenge and opportunity with enthusiasm. They were cooperative, respectful, and supportive of one another throughout the journey, representing the school with pride and maturity.
The trip was a true celebration of language learning in action. It strengthened cultural understanding, built lifelong friendships, and left students inspired to continue exploring the world through Chinese.
We extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated teachers, our wonderful students, and everyone behind the scenes for making this trip such a success.
