From the Principal

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks. Our Year 12 students are completing their final exams, and I want to thank our junior year levels for their continued consideration of senior students during this important time. Most exams have been held offsite at Melbourne Polytechnic, with the final few taking place in our Performing Arts Building. Our Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025 was held last month and was a wonderful celebration of their achievements and contributions to our school community. We look forward to celebrating their results in mid-December.
Our Year 11 students have also begun their End of Year Exams this week. These assessments provide valuable preparation for Year 12 and a chance to consolidate the learning from this year. After their exams, students will take part in our Senior Orientation Program, which sets the tone for the year ahead and supports a smooth transition into their final year of schooling.
The Year 9 students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh program are heading off to Anglesea in two groups, this week and next, for their adventurous journey. This outdoor experience gives them the chance to build resilience, teamwork and leadership skills while putting into practice the planning and preparation they have worked on throughout the year. We wish them well for what promises to be a challenging and rewarding few days.
This issue also highlights our global learning and international programs, with student reflections from recent tour to China and Italian Exchange.
Our Year 10 students recently participated in the RIJI interviews, where they practised real-life job interviews with local employers and community members. It was wonderful to see a number of current and past parents among the interviewers, offering valuable insights and feedback to help students prepare for their future careers.
Last week, we held our Annual Sports Breakfast, hosted by our Sports Team. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of our student athletes and the dedication of those who have taken on coaching roles, mentoring younger teams in sports they love. It was also an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment of our staff who have coached teams, organised events, and supported students outside regular school hours.
Please note the end-of-year dates published in this issue to assist with your planning.
We are delighted to confirm this year’s Alumni Event, scheduled for Thursday 21st November from 10:30 am. Our Back to NHS event invites our alumni to join us for morning tea in the PAC. If you or someone you know is an NHS alum, we would love to see them there! With our Centenary celebrations taking place next year we are keen to start building momentum for our 2026 events.
In this issue, you’ll also find details about our End of Year Music Concert on Wednesday 19th November and the Art and Design Show on Wednesday 3rd December. Both are wonderful opportunities to celebrate the creativity, talent and hard work of our students and staff. I look forward to seeing you at any of our upcoming end of year celebrations.
