Echidnas - It’s Glitter Time!
It’s the most wonderful time of the kinder year!
And the tradition continues... I crack open the glitter, we dig out anything that sparkles from the Christmas tub, and every day we discuss excitely how the King of the Cosmos made His entrance on earth as a wee baby!
Our decorations for the Christmas concert in the auditorium this month are taking shape as the the children make ‘JOY’ by painting letters and shapes cut from cardboard. Recycled opshop baubles are making green circles into spectacular wreathes that will also be used as concert props.
Angels have been coloured, cut out on Mrs Missen’s handy dandy Big Shot machine, delicately decorated with gold foil with the dainty five year old fingers of the children, and strung with gold flecked string.
Christmas cards have been written using the children’s emerging writing skills, and then covered with Christmas cutouts, stickers, and drawings.
Christmas ornaments have been filled with ribbon measured to the length of the children, and the amount of pompoms that represent their age at this point in time. These will be tree decorations that I am sure will be treasured for ever.
Our pièce de résistance is the Nativity Video filmed on location at Bush Kinder and narrated by the children as they share with us the birth of Jesus through their eyes.
This film will debut at our concert and will tug on the heart strings of all who see it – I am tipping that there won’t be a dry eye in the house!
And admist all the glitter and sparkle, we remember the humble birth that changed the world forever.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:6
It really IS the most wonderful time of the year!

Wombats
The three-year-old Wombat group have been learning wonderful things about plants!
We learned they need water and light to grow. We each planted two different types of seeds - grass and snow peas. We grew the snow pea seeds in damp cotton wool on the window, so we could observe the shoots and the roots.
We know they will need to be planted in soil soon so they can grow big and strong. It is fascinating to see growth from little seeds! We learned about fruit and vegetables being plants too, so we decided to use bananas to make some banana muffins. Yum!
Learning Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
How many are Your works O Lord! In wisdom You have made them all.
- Psalm 104:24
